Food Tour through the historic centre of Athens with market visit and many tastings
Greek cuisine is a taste experience that you will enjoy best with many small tastings. On the food tour through the historic centre of Athens you will get to know 18 culinary treasures and hike along the historical trails of the capital. With a professional guide at your side who will immerse you in the history and cuisine of Greece. The Athens Food Tour starts with a typical Greek breakfast in the lively Psyrri district. Start the day with an aromatic coffee and a koulouri - a light bread curl with sesame seeds. Athenians traditionally keep the first meal of the day small, but enjoy it late in the evening, preferably in company. How and where the ingredients for a Greek meal with starter, main course and dessert are selected, you will experience during your visit to the market in Athens. On the way to the Varvakios market you take another delicacy from one of the Greek cake shops.
And then immerse yourself in another world. The central market of Athens offers everything you need to cook and enjoy. World-famous Greek delicacies such as cheese, meat products, fish, sweets, savoury, olives, fruit, spices, herbs and much more can be found in the covered halls. And you are welcome to take a taste or two to capture this Greek food tour with all your senses. After the hustle and bustle of the market hall, the food tour ends in an authentic tapas shop, where the "Tsipouro" is also served. The high-proof grappa with its very own, fresh taste is often served as an accompaniment to sumptuous meat and fish dishes.
Finally, have a bite at the "Loukoumades" in a candy store. The yeast dough balls with honey are a nice finale of the Food Tour through Athens. On this excursion, friends of Greek cuisine and those of Greek history will get their money's worth. The city walk combines culinary delights and sightseeing in the most beautiful way. On the way you will gather many impressions of the city and its people. The gourmet tour is offered daily except Sundays and with a maximum of 12 participants is also a very individual experience.
