Booking option: Food tour and wine tasting in Athens by night

The private food tour through Athens starts at Syntagma Square - a popular nightlife area of the city. There you will stop off with your foodie guide in a modern delicatessen and learn about typical Greek products and recipes. Enjoy smoked Sygklino ham from Mani or handmade pâtés with Pastrami and Graviera cheese. Finally, a raki is served.

Continue with the evening programme in Athens: you walk over Monastiraki Square and through one of the picturesque alleys to the trendy Psirri quarter with its cafés and small taverns. In one of these taverns you will take the second course and get to know the ritual of the Meze tasting: small side dishes like Tigania (pork bites enriched with wine in the pan), zucchini croquettes and Tzatziki sauce are enjoyed with good conversations and in company.

This culinary and cultural discovery of Greece would not be complete without Greek wine: you can taste it in a local, cosy wine bar. 5 different sorts of Greek wine, paired with carefully selected bites are served. So the evening in Athens ends with a nice atmosphere.

Detailed description

Athens by night: private food tour with exclusive wine tasting

An evening for the good things in life: enjoy the gastronomy, wine and nightlife of the Greek capital on a private food tour through Athens. Immerse yourself in the fascinating cosmos of this metropolis and, alongside a local guide, get to know popular districts as well as restaurants with fine authentic cuisine. Try some of the best Greek wines at a tasting, rounded off with delicious tapas. If you want to get closer to other cultures and mentalities, it is best to start with a meal in company and go out where the locals meet in the evening. The best addresses can be found in the company of a scene connoisseur. Your food tour starts on the bustling Syntagma Square, also known as Constitution Square. Take a stroll and admire the illuminated Parliament building and the spectacular ensemble in the heart of the city. Your food guide will take you to a gourmet restaurant known for creating unique products from traditional recipes. One of the house's specialities is handmade pâtés. As so often with a Greek meal, the welcome menu closes with a raki.

With many aromas and new flavours on our tongue, we calmly head for the second station of the evening. On the way we will admire some beautiful streets of Athens, cross the Monastiraki Square, where all the historical epochs of Greece are reflected, and stroll through the small alleys into the perhaps most popular quarter of Athens: Psirri. A quarter with a special flair and open-minded people. Those who are interested in nightlife and food in Athens will find some of the most creative suppliers here.

In a charming tavern of the quarter you can feast on the starters - also called meze - of Greek cuisine. Tigania (meat bites from the pan enriched with wine), zucchini croquettes and tsatsiki sauce are among the dishes served. If you have a vegetarian diet or allergies, we can adapt the culinary offer. With this second stage, which gives even the hungriest a quiet stomach, we have a good basis for the final wine tasting in a cosy bar. We want to taste 5 different varieties and learn more about the tradition of viticulture in Greece.

This evening program is perhaps the most beautiful introduction to the culture of food in Athens - impressions of the nightlife can be found on the route.

Highly recommended

Cooking is my hobby and my passion. That's why I booked the food tour. The price seemed a bit high to me. But I haven't had a vacation for 5 years and just want to treat myself. But now I can say: this tour is worth every penny. As a "normal" tourist, I would never have discovered these places, restaurants and the delicacies that were served there.

Sehr empfehlenswert
