This tour takes you to the small volcanic island of Vila Franca do Campo off the coast of São Miguel. We meet at the marina of Vila Franca do Campo and board our explorer boat here. The Nature Reserve Tour is accompanied by a knowledgeable wilderness guide and an experienced skipper. The crossing to the volcanic island takes about 10 minutes. We will first circumnavigate the island and then disembark at the island's harbour. You will experience the volcanic wonder at close quarters on a tour lasting about one and a half hours. We will visit the island crater, a rocky landscape overgrown with endemic Azores heather, fire tree and other plant species. A beautiful habitat for wildlife. You can often see birds such as buzzards, turnstones, sanderlings, egrets, whimbrels, canaries, wagtails and even colonies of sally-legs! There is life here all year round, especially in autumn and winter. Our guide will tell you all about this beautiful volcanic island and answer any questions.

Islet Vila Franca do Campo is one of the most extraordinary places in the Azores. An island with overgrown crater walls and a natural swimming pool with the clearest water imaginable. Because of its almost perfect round shape, the islet is also called Princess Ring. In summer, visitors love to come here to swim and sunbathe; in autumn and winter, Vila Franca do Campo becomes a wildlife haven. Together with a knowledgeable island guide, you will experience this little paradise at close quarters. The 3-hour excursion from the coastal port of Vila Franca do Campo includes a boat trip to Ilha Vila and a tour of the island with many interesting explanations and nature observations. After the short crossing, you will disembark at the island's harbour and take a one-and-a-half-hour tour to explore the volcanic wonder.
