Promis auf Mallorca
Mallorca is the favourite island of many celebrities.

Why is Mallorca so popular with German and international celebrities? Even the composer Frédéric Chopin and the French writer Jules Verne loved coming to the island. And Sissi, the famous Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also spent many summers on Mallorca. In the 1950s, American Hollywood stars such as John Wayne and Audrey Hepburn discovered the Balearic Islands as a retreat from Papparazi. They were followed by European starlets.

Mallorca is particularly popular with German celebrities because of its good flight connections. Thanks to the highly frequented flight network, they can get to Mallorca faster than to Sylt. They can also easily reach almost all German airports within two hours. This also makes a weekend trip to Mallorca worthwhile. The celebrity density is particularly high in the south-west of the island, in Port d`Andratx and Santa Ponsa.

Hollywood has also been scouting the Mediterranean island for a long time and has had a number of film stars flock here. The spring of 2023 belonged to Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman. Both actors came to Mallorca for filming and savoured the island life. In the German community, the Goodby Germany emigrants in particular regularly make a name for themselves.

In the 14th season of the cult programme "I'm a star, get me out of here", she battled with other celebrities for the jungle crown - and was eliminated shortly before the final in third place.

Boris Becker

Boris Becker bought a finca near Artà in 1997 for around 500,000 euros. The finca has its own tennis court where Boris Becker regularly played tennis. Two years later, construction was halted because parts of the buildings had been erected illegally. In 2003, the diggers moved in and parts of the new buildings were demolished again. Becker then renovated everything at great expense because he wanted to celebrate his housewarming party at the finca in 2006. Then the global financial crisis intervened. Becker lost interest in the property, repeatedly failed to pay his outstanding bills and was only able to stave off a forced sale at the last minute. The finca and outbuildings fell into disrepair.
