Exploring crete by catamaran - an unforgettable experience
Catamaran sailing is possible on Crete almost all year round, as the temperatures are between 20 and 30 degrees. Come with one of our skippers on an adventure at sea and spend Easter or even Christmas on the Mediterranean as the mood takes you.
What is a catamaran?
A catamaran is a ship with two hulls connected by a supporting deck. This also makes the ship wider than normal monohulls of the same size. In addition, a catamaran does not have a keel and is therefore much faster on the water. The motor catamaran is to be distinguished from the sailing catamaran. A motor catamaran is often used for ferry trips because motor catamarans are faster than normal ferries. A motor catamaran, which has about 200 seats, can travel at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
Sailing catamarans are used for regattas and holiday trips. Race across the Mediterranean on these fast twin-hulled vessels and enjoy the wind and freedom out at sea.
How safe is catamaran sailing?
A catamaran is very stable in the water due to its two hulls. Therefore, nothing can happen to you. If you have rented a boat with a skipper, then you can rest assured, because every skipper knows the boats he drives like the back of his hand.
Where can I do a tour in Crete?
We have a catamaran tour for you, departing from Chania. This is a 4-hour half-day trip across the Mediterranean Sea. Set off towards Theodorou Island, also known as Kri-Kri Island. During the trip you will be informed by our skipper in English about all the important sights you will see on the trip. For those of you who would like to get off the boat, we advise you to bring your swimming gear, as there will also be a short stop for swimming or snorkelling. Dive down during a short break and experience the
Crete's underwater world - maybe you'll be lucky and catch a marine mammal on your dive.
Of course, food and drinks are also provided. Our skipper will provide you with fresh fruit and a drink on board.
Catamaran tip: On the open sea and with the wind blowing, it is easy to forget how strong the sun is. Don't forget to stock up on sunscreen and if you're planning to cool off in the water, think about swimwear too.
Don't just come home with stories to tell, but also impress your loved ones and friends with great impressions directly from the catamaran - so don't forget your camera.
