Before we leave the port of Corfu around 9:30 am, you will have the opportunity to shop duty free after passport control. The crossing along the Albanian coast to Saranda takes about 1.15 hours. In Saranda, a 20 km guided coach tour of the south coast’s virgin shores and scattered islands are available for those who want it. The highlight of your day is a visit to Butrint - UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour through the archaeological sites to the Venetian castle takes between 90-110 minutes.

Lunch will be served on return to Saranda. In the afternoon there is a tour of the beautiful coastal town. From the city centre we take the bus back to the harbour and board the boat again after the passport control at 05:30 pm to return to Corfu. We reach the port of the Greek island around 07:00 pm. The fast motor boat has a capacity of up to 124 passengers.

Day trip from Corfu port to Saranda on the Albanian Riviera with guided tour through the ancient Butrint

Around Corfu many destinations are waiting to be discovered. The day trip from Corfu harbour to Saranda on the Albanian Riviera belongs to the extraordinary excursions. An insider tip for adventurers and guests of the Ionian Islands who are looking forward to a cultural day with sightseeing. In the morning, a motorboat will take you along the skyline of Corfu City with its Venetian fortresses and the old town worth seeing. The cruise ship finally follows the Albanian coast and reaches the popular seaside resort on the Ionian Sea after a little more than an hour's drive. The sunny coastal region has developed into a popular holiday destination in southern Albania. You can see Corfu from the shore.

After the arrival we have a small coffee break with sea view Saranda on us and then start our bus tour to Butrint. On the way we pass Albania's south coast and enjoy the view of small islands and villages. After about 20 minutes we reach the highlight of the Corfu day trip: the legendary Butrint. The historical lagoon city was considered in antiquity as an elegant health resort and reflects the history of the Mediterranean like no other. Different styles and epochs gave the city its variety. It was not until 1928 that archaeologists uncovered the remains of Butrint. Today visitors can take a tour back to the 3rd century BC.

Included in this day tour is a guided tour that takes you past the Venetian tower, the ancient theatre, the temple of Asklepios, the Roman baths and the Roman Baptistery with its mosaic floor. The ruins of Butrint have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and, apart from their cultural importance, are one of Albania's most important tourist destinations. At the top of the hill above Butrint stands the Venetian castle, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the old town, the lake and the plains below.

After this exciting journey through time we return to Saranda and have lunch in a restaurant overlooking the sea. A rich lunch buffet is served (included). We also want to take some time for a walk through the alleys and along the promenade of Saranda before we leave the Albanian harbour for Corfu in the early evening. Please allow time for boarding and passport control.

Not just island hopping ...

Country hopping can also be done from Corfu. For me, Albania is a blank spot on the map. Why doesn't sunbonoo have more offers in this undiscovered country?
