How does the training for the diving licence work?

Complete your diving licence in approx. 3-5 days and discover a completely new world under water! When diving, you will see everything that has been hidden from your view in the sea up close and in peace: From the beautiful underwater flora and fauna to sunken wrecks, there is plenty to discover. The PADI Open Water Diver diving licence costs around €300-400 in Mallorca and can be obtained from the age of 10. If you would like to do the diving licence, you should first have your diving fitness certified by a diving doctor. This will ensure that your body can withstand the demands underwater and that you can learn to dive without any worries.

The theory of the diving licence

Learning the theory before your first dives is essential. As people are not naturally capable of scuba diving, it is necessary to know how to use the equipment correctly and prepare for possible situations in order to be able to dive safely at all times. In the theory lessons for your diving licence, you will learn how to put on and care for your equipment correctly, which safety rules to observe and how to communicate underwater. You will also learn about pressure and buoyancy before you obtain your diving licence: How does pressure affect the body and how do you equalise pressure correctly? How can you float, ascend or sink? You will also learn how to plan dives correctly and how to calculate the required air consumption so that you always have enough oxygen with you when diving. The theory is tested - if you pass, you are already very close to your diving licence.

The first practice - with the diving licence in Mallorca in the pool-like sea

Now that you have acquired sufficient theoretical knowledge, you need to put it into practice. Normally, this is practised in the pool - but if you do the diving licence in Mallorca, you have the advantage of being able to start directly in the crystal-clear and shallow sea. Here you will practise putting on your diving equipment, breathing underwater and how to get water out of your mask without surfacing. After several pool dives, you will be ready for the final stage on the way to your diving licence: The open sea!

Diving in the sea

In the beautiful sea, surrounded by fish, you will learn the last important things for your diving licence while you are already observing the fascinating underwater world: You practise how to regulate your position in the water by using buoyancy and how to find your lost regulator. For the diving licence, you will also practise rescuing a diving partner so that you are well prepared for an emergency. All your dives, including depth, dive time, temperature and dive buddy, are recorded in the logbook so that you can prove your diving experience at any time. Once you have passed the theory test and completed enough dives during your holiday, you will receive your diving licence and can now rent the oxygen tanks you need for diving anywhere in the world.
