Detailed description

Private discoverer tour in wonderful surroundings in Rhodes with butterfly valley and wine tasting

This exclusive day trip takes you into an idyllic gorge in the northwest of Rhodes. The valley of butterflies was named after the numerous butterflies found there and stretches over a length of about 5 kilometres. However, the natural spectacle can only be admired from mid-June to September. Then many thousands of butterflies cavort there, which are to be assigned to the family of the bear moth. The reason for the high occurrence of these jersey tigers are the oriental amber trees, which are native to the gorge and whose resin smell attracts them. Up to 1000 butterflies romp around on one cubic meter. But even without this natural spectacle, a leisurely hike through the gorge is a real pleasure for nature lovers, just like the wine tasting afterwards on a charming winery. There you can delve deeper into Rhodian wine culture and experience up close how the noble wines are produced. You will be guided through the vineyards and the wine cellar and of course you can taste the local wines.

You start in the morning at a meeting point or at your hotel in Rhodes city and drive directly to the gorge, which you will explore on your own without a guide. The butterfly valley attracts with a wonderful landscape that will enchant you. The valley floor can be easily reached via the paths, stairs and wooden footbridges. It is an idyllic and beautiful environment whose charm is hard to resist. The waters in the gorge, a river and a lake, contribute to the special atmosphere at this place. At the right time of the year you will see an incredible number of butterfly shoals romping around on the trunks of the amber trees. Due to their colouring in black, white and orange/red they give the trees their unique appearance. The ticket for the butterfly valley in Rhodes is of course included in the price. Even if you will not see any butterflies, don't be disappointed, enjoy the fantastic scenery in the gorge. The tour to the butterfly valley in Rhodes has even more to offer, as the tour continues with a visit of a winery with wine tasting. Take a piece of Rhodian lifestyle home with you and buy a bottle of your favourite wine there.

On Rhodes, Petaloudes, as the valley of butterflies in Greece is called, is the perfect place to explore the fantastic nature of the Greek island. Take this as an opportunity for a Rhodes hiking. It was clear ...

... that you want the last word again. Why is it called Butterfly Valley. It should be correct: June to September butterfly valley! ╭∩╮ (º.º) ╭∩╮

War ja klar…

...dass ihr nun wieder das letzte Wort haben wollt. Warum heißt es wohl Schmetterlingstal. Es müsste ja korrekt heißen: Juni-bis-September-Schmetterlingstal! ╭∩╮( º.º )╭∩╮

Who is a snore nose?

We found the tour very good. And that there are no butterflies in May is already clear in the description here. But if you can read, you have an advantage and not a snore nose ... ☺

Not just for snoring noses

My parents really wanted to go to this valley. So I had to walk with them. There were no butterflies. Then the wine tasting was torn out!

Nicht nur für Schnarchnasen

Meine Eltern wollten unbedingt in dies Tal. So musste ich mit latschen. Schmetterlinge gab es keine. Rausgerissen hat es dann die Weinprobe!
