Detailed description

A day trip from Tenerife: sightseeing and a hike on the island of El Hierro

El Hierro is Tenerife’s smallest neighbour. It is a green jewel in the Atlantic Ocean that has a unique coastline, a wealth of natural treasures and spectacular panoramas. Like the circular, coastal amphitheatre formed by rocky cliffs around the bay of La Playas that are 1,000-metres high in places. The most beautiful view of this fascinating scenery can be enjoyed from the Mirador Isora. This vantage point is also the first stop on the day trip from Tenerife to El Hierro. The morning ferry will take you from the port of Los Cristianos to the neighbouring island. You can enjoy views across the sea during the 2.5-hour crossing and look forward to the tour around the island of El Hierro, which includes a short hike.

You will walk along a path through the Hoya del Pino recreational area. The largely untouched, gentle natural scenery reveals an almost magical effect on closer inspection. El Hierro is basically made for hiking. It is a relaxing island with plenty of nature, where numerous paths lead through a fairy-tale landscape, whether at great heights or on one of the old camino paths that meander along the coast. The tour of the island of El Hierro takes you the green and fertile El Golfo valley. Wine is one of the crops that are cultivated in the beautiful orchard on El Hierro. During the tour, keep an eye out for the horizon, the mountain roofs and the bell tower of La Frontera, which is situated on a volcanic cone!

In La Puntas you will visit what may well be the world's smallest hotel and enjoy tapas and wine for lunch. Right on the cliffs of the Atlantic Ocean. During the excursion from Tenerife you will learn more about the unique features, specialties and history of this tranquil island paradise. Your final memory will be of a sweet treat that awaits you at the end of the tour. Your guide will take you to one of the best bakeries on the island, where you can try quesedillas, a tasty desert that is typical of the region.

The ferry to Los Cristianos leaves at 4.30 pm. Enjoy the sea breeze of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful view of the island world, past La Gomera and back to Tenerife. Return transport to the hotels in the south departs from the harbour.

Have been to Tenerife three times

I had never visited El Hierro before. It was rightly called the “Green Jewel in the Atlantic”. A wonderful piece of nature that can be discovered on this hike.

Great tour - gladly again

After lazing around for 4 days, I needed exercise in the fresh sea air. This tour offered just that.

Geile Tour – Gerne wieder

Nach 4 Tage faulenzen brauchte ich Bewegung an frischer Seeluft. Diese Tour bot genau das.

Good tour - good organization

I recommend this hiking day trip. It is not “commercially overloaded” and leads to places that would probably not have been discovered on its own. And when hiking, i.e. when exercising, we don't need to wear the mask.

Gute Tour – Gute Orga

Discovering El Hierro is worth it!

Nature and tranquility - El Hierro is a place to slow down. Cute also the smallest hotel in the world ... We liked it a lot, so we are happy to recommend the tour.

Nice day trip in Tenerife

A recommended day trip! El Hierro is a largely natural island paradise. Great.

Schöner Tagesausflug auf Teneriffa

Ein empfehlenswerter Tagesausflug! El Hierro ist ein weitgehend naturbelassenes Inselparadies. Grandios.
