Booking option: Hiking in the centre of the island of Fuerteventura with guide

There are two medium-difficulty walks in the centre of the island: Barranco de las Peñitas, which is part of the Betancuria Landscape Park, and within the Montaña del Cardón Natural Area. From the south, we first start towards the north, stopping briefly at the viewpoint of Guize and Ayoze. Finally, we reach the first Catalan capital after the conquest of the Canary Islands, Betancuria. One of the most beautiful villages in Spain. During our half-hour stay, there is time to stroll through the streets, museums and the church, or simply have a drink in one of the various cafés in the area. Other stops on the way to Peñitas are Vega de Rio Palmas and the Pájara Hermitage.

After this short stop we reach the beautiful gorge Las Peñitas and climb up to our first hike with visits to a small hermitage and then to the dam. In Ajuy we have about 60 minutes of free time, during which we can try fresh fish in one of the various restaurants in the area, enjoy our sandwich on the beach or go swimming (at your own risk). After visiting the caves, we move on to the natural monument Montaña Cardón, where our last hike of the day will take place. We climb up to the Cueva de la virgen del Tanquito on a well signposted trail.
