Detailed description

A very special trekking tour in Tenerife: Anaga hike through laurel forest to Chinamada

On this guided hike through the Anaga Mountains in Tenerife, you will not only immerse yourself in the exciting history of the Canary Islands, but also get to know the fairytale, primeval laurel forest. The hike from Puerto de la Cruz starts with a transfer to the starting point. A local hiking guide will pick you up at the hotel or a nearby meeting point and take you to the departure point of the hike in the Anaga Mountains. The hiking tour takes about 3.5 hours depending on the group pace and includes breaks. During the hike, you will have numerous beautiful panoramic views over the Anaga Mountains, which have been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because of their uniqueness.

This natural park includes a variety of geological forms and an attractive coastline with robust rocks and very steep gorges. The laurel forest, a living fossil that has survived for 40 million years, is another unforgettable and unique feature of this region. A walk through the laurel forest of Tenerife is like a journey through the jungle. The inhabitants of the Anaga Nature Park devote themselves mainly to agriculture and cultivate sweet potatoes, potatoes, yams, vines and fruit.

The Anaga trekking doesn't only lead you through the dense, vibrantly green vegetation of the forest, but also to the no less enchanted mountain village of Chinamada. Time seems to have stood still at 600 metres. Even today the people here live in caves or cave-like houses. The Blcik is intoxicating over the mountains to the sea. The Anaga region is one of the wettest regions of Tenerife, so that a gentle mist regularly covers the laurel forest - feel like in a fairytale forest. A unique hike in Tenerife!

Unique!

The Anaga hike on Tenerife was an unforgettable experience. The dense vegetation of the laurel forest made it feel like you were in a fairytale forest. The panoramic views over the Anaga mountains were breathtaking and the fact that this area is recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve speaks for its uniqueness. The transfer from Puerto de la Cruz was smooth and the professional guide was extremely informative and friendly. The hike itself was of medium difficulty, which made it ideal for me as a solo traveller. The paths were well prepared and the variety of flora was impressive. The visit to the village of Chinamada, where people still live in caves, was a fascinating insight into the local history and culture. One small downer was that the weather in this region is often foggy, but this added to the mystical atmosphere. All in all, a highly recommended excursion!

Einzigartig!

Unique hike through the Anaga forest

The Anaga hike in Tenerife was a remarkable experience that I can recommend to any nature lover. The dense, green vegetation of the laurel forest is impressive and gives the hike a fairytale character. The transfer from Puerto de la Cruz was well organised and the guide was professional and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the region. The hike itself is of medium difficulty, which requires a good level of fitness. The paths are well prepared but sturdy footwear is essential. The views of the wild gorges and the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking. The visit to the mountain village of Chinamada, where time seems to have stood still, was particularly fascinating. A small downer was the humid climate, which made the hike strenuous in places. All in all, however, a worthwhile tour that impressively showcases the beauty of Tenerife's nature.
