Booking option: Jeep safari in Fuerteventura from Corralejo

Look forward to an eventful jeep safari through the landscapes of Fuerteventura. We see each other at the beautiful dunes of Corralejo, where we make our first stop and take the opportunity to photograph the spectacular views before continuing to the village of Villaverde. At the entrance to the village we take the path to the agave plantations (pitas) that stretch across the plain, stopping here to explain the use of pita thread in the making of traditional ropes, cushions, sandals and other Canarian handicrafts. We arrive in La Oliva and view the Colonels' house and the village square with its church. After the refreshment and toilet break, we go to Tindaya, accompanied by information about the mysticism of this place in the Canarian folk tradition.

We continue on secondary roads along the west coast, stopping at the cliffs that offer us a beautiful view of a large part of the northwest coast of the island with the beaches of Esquinzo, Aguila and many other small coves. We follow the path to the castle of Cotillo Tostón and stop for photos and information about the attacks of the English, French and Berber pirates. Places of interest: Lime kilns in the Old Port, the castle and port of Toston, from where lime was once exported, and agricultural products such as orchids and livestock. In Cotillo we will have time to swim in turquoise lakes.

We continue on dirt roads to the Bayuyo volcano. Here we hike to the top of the caldera, from where we can see the effects of volcanic activity on the island. Spectacular views of the wasteland of the first volcanic stage of the neighbouring island of Lanzarote and of the dunes of Corralejo.

Detailed description

Exciting 4x4 jeep safari in Fuerteventura through the impressive landscape of the north

The jeep tour on the beautiful sand island has a lot to offer: turquoise water, white beaches, volcanoes, charming villages, interesting sights and much more. The excursion starts in the morning hours at the impressive shifting dunes of Corralejo in the nature park. Here you will learn interesting facts about the development of the beautiful dune landscape and you will have enough time to capture the fantastic panorama with the camera. The offshore island of Lobos can also be seen in the distance. The Fuerteventura jeep safari takes you on gravel paths past Bayuyo Volcano to Lajares. The small idyllic village is known for its handicrafts and is ideal for getting to know typical island products.

The adventurous ride in the four-wheel drive jeeps takes you further to Cotillo. During a visit to the beach you can refresh yourself in a dreamlike lagoon in the sea. In between there is enough time for traditional Canarian food (not included in the price). After the bathing stop, the jeep safari takes you to Fuerteventura's fortress "Castillo de El Tostón", built at the end of the 18th century to protect the island from pirate attacks. From there you have a breathtaking view of the coast. We continue through the fascinating but barren landscape of the Canary Island to the holy magic mountain Tindaya. It sits alone in the middle of a flat and dry plain, which contributes to its mystical appearance. There you can find very old rock paintings of great archaeological importance.

You will reach the municipality of La Oliva during the jeep safari in Fuerteventura's north. A little outside, visit the listed mansion "Casa de los Coroneles". Built in colonial style, it was the seat of the military commanders-in-chief of La Oliva in the 18th century. Today it houses an art and cultural exhibition. The centre of La Oliva is also worth a visit. The village, surrounded by volcanoes, takes its name from the numerous olive trees that once grew in this area. The palm-fringed streets contribute to the special charm of La Oliva, which has already delighted visitors. After a great day full of exciting impressions you will be brought back to your starting point. The jeep tour in the north is one of the excursions that allows you to experience the unique flair of the Atlantic island up close. You shouldn't miss this!
