Detailed description

Kayak Tours in Galicia - wild river adventures on the Ulla from Padrón (A Coruña)

Nature lovers and adventurers will enjoy Galicia for its green hills, its romantic valleys, its beautiful Atlantic beaches and its many rivers. The region in the northwest of Spain is a very attractive destination for active holidays and family holidays, thanks to this natural setting. Canoeing is one of the many activities that adults and children can do together in the land of 1000 rivers. Quiet river landscapes, but also white water stages in virtually untouched nature parks offer a suitable travel route for every level of ability. The Ulla is the second most important river in Galicia. The clear water meanders over 130 kilometres from the mountains down to the Atlantic Ocean. The dreamlike estuary bay is the Ria de Arousa in the Pontevedra region. A little further north is Padrón (province of Coruna), the starting point for various year-round kayak tours. From there it is only a few kilometres to the most important destination of the many pilgrims who walk the Way of St James every year: Santiago de Compostela.

In Padrón a classic family kayak tour of 5 kilometres and a time distance of 1.5 hours starts. In the boat it goes without hecticness and obstacles up to the river beach of Vilarello. Previous knowledge is not required for the easy canoe trips - the routes follow the quiet estuary of the river. At the base in Padrón, you will be met and instructed in driving techniques, the route and safety precautions. In addition to a vest, a wetsuit and helmet are standard equipment. Enjoy an entertaining ride under alders and pastures, past cormorants and herons, well equipped. On the somewhat longer, approximately 3-hour kayak tour you paddle to Catoira - the city of the Viking games.

For ambitious paddlers with stamina, we recommend the half-day tour in Galicia, which follows the Way of St James on the water and leads from Villagarcia to Padrón. This route is an absolute highlight, not only because of the island of Bexo, the elevations of the west and the river beach of Vilarello. You will complete about 20 kilometres upstream in this river adventure and change from the province of Pontevedra to Coruna.

The guided kayak tours in Galicia are the right way to switch off, relax and enjoy an intense nature experience.
