La Gomera is considered a wild natural spectacle and by many one of the most beautiful Canary Islands. At the side of an officially certified guide and island expert, you will experience a day trip from Tenerife to La Gomera. The ferry crossing starts in the morning at the port of Los Cristianos to San Sebastian de La Gomera, the capital of the island. In an air-conditioned vehicle we start the round trip towards El Mirador de la Degollada de Peraza, where we can observe the curious phenomenon of "horizontal rain". From the coast we head to the centre of the island with a stop at El Roque de Agando, a landmark of La Gomera and heir to the volcanic age.

One of the highlights on La Gomera is the Garajonay National Park with its evergreen cloud forest. Here we are taken back to the age of the dinosaurs. At lunchtime we reach Agulo, one of the most beautiful Spanish villages. In one of the best restaurants you can taste genuine and traditional dishes of the island, such as almogrote, goat cheese with Canarian palm syrup, watercress soup and finally the famous "Gomerón" liqueur. On the way back, we pass the charming village of Hermigua with its bay. Finally, we reach the island's capital San Sebastian and discover some of the sights on a short tour before boarding the Tenerife ferry and saying goodbye to La Gomera.

Detailed description

By ferry from Tenerife to La Gomera - professionally guided day tour from Los Cristianos

The ferry crossing from Tenerife to La Gomera takes just one hour and you are already in the middle of this magical little island world. The diversity that extends over several levels on Tenerife comes into its own on La Gomera. If you flew over the island, you would be able to see the green heart of the small neighbouring island - and with it the largest still contiguous laurel forest in the world. With a duration of a solid 12 hours, we set out on a lush day trip from Tenerife - and we could stay so much longer to enjoy the abundance. The choices we have made for this La Gomera day tour will introduce you to the special features, alongside an island expert and knowledgeable guide.

Starting in the port of San Sebastian de La Gomera, the day tour begins with the ascent to the Mirador Degollada de Peraza viewpoint. The platform at 900 metres gives us a first overview. We can see the sea and the valleys and on some days also admire the play of clouds and "horizontal rain". With a group of max. 7 people (variations possible in high season), the Tenerife tour to La Gomera is an almost individual experience of your holiday, where you will quickly get into conversation with the guide and be amazed at all he knows about the island. For example, about the natural monument Roque de Agando, a rock tower that peaks at a height of 1251 metres.

The centre of the island, which we enter with the mountain, is the heart of the Garajonay National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with its evergreen cloud forest, a remnant of the subtropical forests that once covered the Mediterranean. If you think of elves and gnomes amidst this fairytale landscape of gnarled branches and roots and trunks thick with moss and lichen, you are not alone. Back in civilisation, we stop for lunch (not included) in a typical Canarian restaurant in Agula (one of the most beautiful villages in Spain) and are eager to hear what you have to say about goat cheese with palm syrup or watercress soup. Before we take the ferry back from La Gomera to Tenerife, we visit San Sebastian for a little sightseeing tour.
