Detailed description

On hot earth: Round trip through the volcanic landscape of Timanfaya National Park on Lanzarote (with BBQ)

Too much has not changed in the Timanfaya region since the heavy volcanic eruptions of 1737 - the landscape still looks in places as if the hot lava flows had just shot out of the interior of the earth and spread black boulders over the country. For six years more than 100 volcanoes raged on the island. Everything that was there before was buried under the enormous lava masses. What has remained are endless lava fields of black earth and red mountains. On Lanzarote you will come across a very original, but above all fascinating volcanic landscape. Timanfaya Park in the southwest of the island covers an area of about 200 square kilometres - almost a quarter of the island. There is probably no other place where the history of the origin of Lanzarote, but also that of the Canary Islands in general, can be so well understood.

On the round trip on the Timanfaya Volcano Route you can look into some of the craters and drive so close to the ash mountains that you can touch them. In the bus you roll over the huge ash hills and on narrow paths through the volcanic rocks. Starting point of the trip is the visitor centre of the park. From there, a 10 kilometre circular trail leads through the moonscape of Timanfaya. The destination is the highest volcano in the park. Discover the Fire Mountains on this exciting tour. A natural spectacle of fire, earth and water.

After visiting the volcanoes we go by bus to a ranch in the south of the island. A tasty barbecue awaits you there, sangria for adults and soft drinks for children. During the break you can enjoy the sea view or look at the horses of the ranch. There is a play area for children. The last stop of the Lanzarote excursion is the beautiful resort of Puerto Calero and the exclusive marina, which is one of the most modern in the world. Luxury yachts from all over the world are anchored here. Enjoy the evening atmosphere by the sea, a drink on the beach promenade or a walk along the water. The bus will then take you back to your hotel.
