Option 1: Lisbon Tour in the electric Tuk Tuk through historical area

This is the best way to see the most amazing views and emblematic places in the centre of Lisbon, from the old town, where the Phoenicians, Romans and Moors lived, to the aristocratic area of Chiado and the bohemian Bairro Alto, the result of the growth of the metropolis after the Golden Age of Discovery. We remember the earthquake of 1755 in the magnificent streets of downtown and Praça do Comércio, and from there we climb the cobbled streets from Sé Cathedral to the viewpoints of Santa Luzia and Portas do Sol, past the Roman Theatre and the Church of Santo António, patron saint of weddings.

The narrow and winding streets take us up to the working-class district of Graça. There, from the highest point, the magnificent Senhora do Monte viewpoint, with the city at your feet, you can see, among other things, the Tagus River, the 25th April Bridge and São Jorge Castle, before passing by the São Vicente de Fora Monastery and the National Pantheon. In Alfama, you can explore the narrow streets of the city's oldest and most picturesque neighbourhood. You will be enchanted. The Fado Museum is just around the corner, but there's no time to lose, so let's head to Chiado and Bairro Alto, with its ladies and gentlemen, writers, artists and bohemians.

There's still time to visit the Carmo Monastery and the square where the Carnation Revolution of April 1974 took place, as well as the views from the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint.

Overview

  • Route: Baixa – Rossio - Praça do Comércio – Sé de Lisboa – Miradouros Santa Luzia e Portas do Sol – Graça – São Vicente de Fora – Panteão Nacional – Alfama – Museu do Fado – Casa dos Bicos – Chiado – Largo do Carmo – São Pedro de Alcântara – Jardim do Príncipe Real
  • Duration: ~ 2 hours
  • Hours: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Option 2: Lisbon tour in electric tuk tuk historical and Belém area

If you choose the 4 hour option, you will enjoy the very "best of Lisbon" as you will still have time to walk along the river and pass by the 25th of April Bridge. It's a lovely walk along the waterfront. We reach the district of Belém, from where Vasco da Gama set off to discover the sea route to India. You'll learn how many of Portugal's great navigators ventured out to sea, transforming Portugal into the first global empire. You can visit the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belém Tower and the Monument to Discoveries, and taste the original famous Pastéis de Belém that the monks used to make to comfort passing sailors.

Overview

  • Route: Avenida da Liberdade – Parque Eduardo VII – Baixa – Rossio - Praça do Comércio – Sé de Lisboa – Miradouros Santa Luzia e Portas do Sol – Graça – São Vicente de Fora – Panteão Nacional – Alfama – Museu do Fado – Chiado – Largo do Carmo – São Pedro de Alcântara – Jardim do Príncipe Real – Estrela – Belém – Cais do Sodré
  • Duration: ~ 4 hours
  • Hours: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Detailed description

Lisbon Tour Tuk Tuk: Sightseeing through the Old Town of the Portuguese capital

On the southwestern Atlantic coast of the Iberian peninsula lies the historic capital of Portugal, Lisbon. Since Roman times, the important port and trading town has grown and prospered and was already under various cultural influences. This increased until well after the Middle Ages, with blossoming seafaring and overseas wealth. Around 1500, Lisbon was one of the most glamorous trading and port cities of the time and was known far away. However, wealth was harmful to the economy and in 1755 an earthquake sealed the decline of Lisbon. Since then, however, the metropolis has largely recovered. What remains are sights from almost 2000 years of eventful history.

On the Lisbon Tour Tuk Tuk through the historic Old Town you will get to know these sights at close quarters. In both of these tours, the local guide will bring you closer to the local attractions with additional information worth knowing. Admire the cathedral of Lisbon, stop at different viewpoints such as Portas do Sol, Senhora do Monte, São Pedro de Alcântara and other places where you can enjoy the panorama of the city in full splendour. Your gaze sweeps over centuries of culture and architecture and many of the small details will gradually reveal and inspire you.

All this is included in the 2-hour and 4-hour Lisbon Tuk Tuk Tour. The 4-hour tour will then also take you to the Belém district. This municipality, which remained independent until 1885, was only then incorporated into the city of Lisbon in Portugal. This district of Belém, largely spared from the severe earthquake of 1755, contains many of Lisbon's surviving landmarks, including the two World Heritage Sites Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and the Torre de Belém. But also the Avis house, including the burial place of Vasco da Gama. Explore this wonderful city of Lisbon with a Tuk Tuk Tour in a completely different way. With a maximum of 6 persons and kept very open, you can enjoy a city tour different from a full coach tour. Get to know your electric Tuk Tuk experience in Lisbon: a wonderful adventure for the whole family!

The somewhat different city tour

Lisbon can be visited in many ways. I like the one with the tuk-tuk best.

Neither in a bus nor in a car do you get such a direct impression of the old town. The sounds and smells are much closer than in an air-conditioned bus.

I am full of praise for the tour I did (option 1) and am happy to give it full stars.

Tuk Tuk: Loud, but ...

The things are loud (probably also because there is no bodywork) but the contact with the city, the people, the smells, the noises is much more immediate than, for example, in a hop-bus like this ...! I like to give the best rating.

Peter, Manfred and I in Lisboa - With the tuk-tuk

We didn't really expect that. We had only expected such a vehicle in Southeast Asia. But we enjoyed being driven through Lisbon like this. You have to try it out.

Booked option 1

Was also quite satisfied. Unfortunately the driver only spoke 10 words of German. But there was a lot to see, so the conversation wasn't that important ...

Habe Option 1 gebucht

Route 2 with Quartier Belém - a great discovery tour

There was a slight hint of great history to be felt as we stood on the banks of the Tagus and had to think of Mr. da Gama, who began his adventures here.
