The archipelago Madeira (Portuguese for "wood") is an autonomous region that belongs to Portugal and lies off the northwest coast of Africa. It is characterised by its volcanic landscape and the so-called levadas, which are old irrigation channels with footpaths. You start your exciting activity in the capital of Madeira Island from Funchal and board a light fast boat with a 500 hp engine.
