Detailed description

Cabrera Boat Trip from Colonia Sant Jordi

As the crow flies, Mallora is 15 kilometres from the Cabrera Nature Reserve. When the weather is good, the archipelago off the south-east coast is clearly visible and attracts the curiosity of many visitors. Excursion boats run daily between the port of Colonia Sant Jordi and the archipelago. It takes a good 30 minutes to cross or circumnavigate the archipelago by speedboat. Cabrera is considered to be one of the last natural paradises in the Balearic Islands and is therefore under special protection. This also means that the number of visitors who can "land" on the island is limited. A visit to Cabrera is a journey into the history of Mallorca, as the island and its inhabitants are largely left to the mercy of nature.

Visitors to Cabrera have a choice of several excursions. If you are interested in the nature and history of the island and want to spend a little more time getting to know it, the 6-hour Premium Tour is recommended. It includes a round trip of the archipelago and a 3-hour stay on Cabrera. A ranger from the Nature Reserve will meet you at the harbour and give you a brief introduction to the island's "house rules". You will have the opportunity to visit the castle and museum of Cabrera, the archaeological excavations, the French monument, the lighthouse of Ensiola, the botanical garden or the beaches of Sa Platgeta and s'Espalmador.

Although Cabrera is only a few square metres in size, it is home to a huge variety of plant and animal species. The archipelago is surrounded by crystal clear waters and the beaches are made up of sand, stones and pebbles. Snorkelling on Cabrera is becoming increasingly popular because of this biodiversity, and boat trips from Colonia Sant Jordi include a snorkelling stop at Cabrera Blue Grotto.
