Our 5-hour tour starts in the south of Mallorca and takes us through the centre of the island. We will visit 5 Mallorcan villages and enjoy typical island snacks in between. After a drive through the windmill landscape, we will reach the village of Algaida, where we will visit one of the best-preserved windmills. On the way to Cura, we pass the tranquil village of Pina with its 500 inhabitants, where we make a second stop to hike to the Cruz de Pina, visit the fountain and hear the story of the old washing places. As we continue on our way, we make a detour to the village of Lloret de Vista Alegre, which has a population of just 1,400. We don't stay in the village, but walk through it to learn more about the history and customs of this magical place.

Montuïri is another village that we will pass through with our local guides. It is a perfect example of rural and traditional Mallorca and is located on a hill with endless slopes. On the outskirts of the village we make our third stop of the day, this time to recharge our batteries while enjoying a delicious pa amb oli in one of the most typical places in Mallorca. Our route continues to the village of Randa, which we cross until we reach our last stop, the majestic monastery of Cura, which rises 550 metres above sea level and from which we have a spectacular 360-degree view over Mallorca and can even see the island of Cabrera on clear days.

Detailed description

5-village tour on Mallorca with guide

Far away from the beaches, promenades and harbours, there is a rural Mallorca with traditional villages and their stories, a kind of secret island landscape to be discovered on our Secret Mallorca Tour. The route takes us from the south to the heart of the island. We will visit 5 different villages and sample typical island snacks at selected locations. Accompanied by our local guide, the route offers us an interesting insight into the history of windmills, which still characterise the landscape of the Balearic Islands today and are an essential tourist attraction to get to know the authentic Mallorca.

The city of windmills on Mallorca is Algaida - today, most of the island's windmills can be found here. Many are privately owned and not accessible, but dominate the townscape and are also beautiful to look at from the outside. Above all, however, the history of the centre of the island can be read from the mills. It was the farmers who harnessed the power of the wind and used the windmills to grind grain or pump water. Even more dominant than the windmills, however, is the sacred Puig de Randa, the highest point in the centre of the island. There are three monasteries on the mountain. Here we visit the majestic pilgrimage church of Cura, which rises 550 metres above sea level and from where you have a spectacular 360-degree view over Mallorca.

A place where you can taste the tradition and history of Mallorca is Montuïri. In the middle of the plain, also known as Pla de Mallorca, this authentic village is perched on the hills and its alleyways are so winding that you want to lose yourself in them, making it the ideal place to sample another of the island's specialities: Pa amb Oli.
