A day of swimming in the Blue Lagoon

Booking option: Boat Trip to Comino Island with Blue Lagoon & Crystal Lagoon

It takes about 1 hour to cross from the starting port of Bugibba in the north of Malta to Comino. We moor in the Crystal Lagoon, which is less well-known than the Blue Lagoon, but at least as beautiful. The crystal clear water of the bay surrounded by high rocks is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving. If you dare, you can jump directly into the sea from the upper deck or even glide into the water on one of our slides.

Heading to the Blue Lagoon, it's best to secure a spot in front of one of our underwater windows - in good sea conditions you can see the shipwreck that lies on the bottom here at a depth of 20 metres. In the Blue Lagoon we enjoy a stay of around 4 hours. Make use of the boat's amenities such as water slide or sun deck or swim ashore and explore Comino. On the way back to Bugibba, we visit the pirate caves of Santa Maria, an amazing rock formation that has earned the nickname "Elephant's Head".

Detailed description

From Bugibba: Boat trip to the Blue Lagoon of Comino Island

About an hour's boat cruise from Bugibba in St Paul's Bay, a wondrous world opens up with the Comino Lagoons. Spend a day in the famous Blue Lagoon and snorkel in the caves of the secluded Crystal Lagoon. The day trip includes around 5 hours of swimming, relaxing and bathing fun and around 2 hours of cruising off the coast of Malta. The crossing from Bugibba to Comino takes about 1 hour. You will spend this on board a modern catamaran with water slides, underwater windows, washrooms, bar service and children's play area. In addition, there are live commentaries on the sights in various languages on board. Among others to the Apostle Statue, which we pass and can photograph on the way past the small St. Pauls Island. You will have a beautiful view of the coast of Malta.

The Comino boat tour departs in the morning from Bugibba harbour, a popular resort in the north of Malta. Sea conditions permitting, we head straight for the Crystal Lagoon, which lies on the west side of Comino. The entrance to this hidden paradise is an experience. Surrounded by high cliffs, the lagoon appears like a fjord that stretches far into the island's interior. The approximately 1-hour stop will give us the opportunity to experience this dreamlike setting. Afterwards, we will continue to the Blue Lagoon, which is located further north and is of course no longer an insider tip. Malta and the Blue Lagoon are often mentioned in the same breath. Accordingly, this gem is well visited during the high season. You can watch the hustle and bustle from the sun deck of our catamaran or have fun on the water slides. Our swim in the Blue Lagoon lasts around 4 hours.

A highlight of the boat trip to the Blue Lagoon is the underwater viewing: presumed good sea conditions, you can view the underwater world off the coast of Malta and possibly even an old shipwreck through one of the 26 glass-bottom windows. On the way back, which takes us from the Blue Lagoon back to Bugibba, we stop at the pirate's cave Santa Maria, which has earned the nickname Elephant's Head because of its idiosyncratic rock formations.

Sun, sea, lagoon, Malta You're very horribly likeable to me

I'm a skeptic - also when it comes to this tour offer. But despite the commercial intentions, there was satisfaction. The offer gave me a certain satisfaction both dialectically and emotionally.

Sonne, Meer, Lagune, Malta Du bist mir sehr greuslich symphatisch

Ich bin Skeptiker – auch was dieses Tourangebot anging. Doch trotz der kommerziellen Absicht trat doch Zufriedenheit ein. Dialektisch und emotionell hat mir das Angebot eine gewisse Satisfaktion bereitet.
