This impressive jeep tour in Madeira will give you an excellent insight of the culture and the mountainscape of the beautiful island. After you've been picked up in the morning from the drivers and made yourself comfortable in the convertible 4x4 vehicles, you'll start the tour: From Machico, the second-largest and oldest city of Madeira, you'll follow the small pathways called Caminho Real (royal way) through the Funduras mountain chain. You'll pass terraces, on which you'll even nowadays see the sugarcane- and banana plantations, and evergreen forests with the 4x4 jeeps.

At lunchtime you can enjoy a typical Madeiran menu, which you can order directly with the tour guide for a small extra charge. On the way to the mountains, you'll see some idyllic small villages, i.e. Porto da Cruz and the more famous Santana, whose typical Madeiran houses are a popular foto motif. Now you continue on forest paths uphill into the mountains, leaving behind Ribeiro Frio, a stunning forest park. Goal of the Madeira jeep tour is the Pico do Areeiro, the third-highest mountain of Madeira with spectacular views until the neighbouring island Porto Santo. With the jeep like the king on the royal road

The oldest city of Madeira Machico intoxicated our senses, landscapes and architecture were brutally beautiful.

Nice, but I would also like to have driven myself

A packed day with lots of impressions. Rather sightseeing. A little more off-road action and driving yourself would have been great.
