Detailed description

Volcanic craters in the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote and exciting lava cave systems to discover

The exciting tour is an experience for young and old and takes you to 3 attractions that you should definitely have seen on the Canary Island. The tour to the famous caves and Timanfaya, Lanzarote's National Park, begins with a pick-up at your accommodation in the south or east. The air-conditioned bus will take you directly to the National Park, which you can then explore extensively. In the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote, discover the different volcanic craters and learn a lot of interesting facts about the area, where there are more than 25 volcanoes and which were formed almost 300 years ago by volcanic eruptions and are therefore also called "the Fire Mountains". You will see wide lava fields, glowing red mountain peaks and craters, a fascinating experience! The region of the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote resembles a lunar landscape.

In the restaurant and tourist centre "El Diabolo", you can have a snack if you get hungry (food is not included in the price). The restaurant, designed by César Manrique, has a magnificent panoramic view over the magnificent mountains of fire. There you can also take a bus to explore the National Park. Marvel at a hole in the ground, which illustrates that there is still a temperature of 400 degrees Celsius at a depth of 4 metres. Water poured in by the park's staff evaporates immediately - an impressive spectacle!

After visiting Lanzarote's Timanfaya National Park, the full day tour continues on to the "Cueva de los Verdes", the Green Cave, whose name has nothing to do with colour, but rather with the former inhabitants or the explorer, which has not yet been clarified. The lava tube was formed about 5000 years ago by a lava flow following a volcanic eruption. The lava flowed further inside while it was already cooling on the surface. The "Cueva de los Verdes" is only a small part of a 7 km long cave system, one of the longest lava tunnels on earth.

Another highlight of the excursion to caves and the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote follows: You will visit "Jameos del Agua", a cultural site built by César Manrique in a partly collapsed lava tube. In the grotto there is a subterranean lake, a concert hall, a garden and a swimming pool, which is no longer allowed to be used. "Jameos del Agua" is located in the middle of a lava field of the volcano Monte Corona. About 1.5 km of the 6 km long tunnel system runs under the water surface. In the lava tunnel live the unique albino crabs, which actually only occur in a water depth of several thousand meters. The tour on Lanzarote to the Timanfaya National Park and the two caves ends with many lasting impressions and a return transfer to your starting point.
