Detailed description

Panoramic tour on Gran Canaria: round trip through the breathtaking mountain and coastal landscape

This excursion begins when we leave the tourist centres in the south of Gran Canaria and head east-northeast to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (capital of the province of the same name: Las Palmas), where we enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the bus on the way to Arucas, the banana capital of Gran Canaria. Once in Arucas, we visit two of the town's most important sights: the impressive neo-Gothic church of San Juan Bautista. When you look at it, you think you are standing in front of a medieval church, but this impression is deceptive, as it was only built in the 20th century. We continue to Teror, the religious capital of the island.

After a lunch break, we head inland, where the landscape enchants us with its great contrasts. Deep gorges with caves inside the mountains that are still inhabited today. Yes, inhabited caves that were created by the nature of the mountain and are still inhabited today. About halfway up, we see the island transform into a green landscape. The lush vegetation never ceases to amaze the visitor: La Cumbre. The forests of the mountains seem to want to embrace us with their pine and chestnut trees that reach right up to the roadside. Now you understand why the island is known as the "miniature continent".

Not only the landscape, but also the climate surprises us, as it is much cooler and wetter in the north than in the south. The heart of the island surprises us with its impressive landscapes. We leave the Parador at Cruz de Tejeda at an altitude of 1,450 metres. We continue to the Mirador de la Becerra viewpoint at 1,550 metres. From here you can admire the Roque Noublo, a monument and natural symbol of Gran Canaria, which is accompanied by other magnificent and imposing monoliths: El Roque Bentayga and El Fraile.

Stunning Views and Rich Culture

My spouse and I enjoyed the panoramic bus tour of Gran Canaria. The landscape was breathtaking, with lush valleys and impressive mountain ridges. The visit to Arucas and Teror offered a delightful cultural insight. The tour was well-organised, and the guide was knowledgeable. However, a bit more time at each stop would have been appreciated. Overall, a fantastic experience.
