Detailed description

Sea Kayaking in the Greek Peloponnese (Navarino Bay)

Some say that Navarino Bay is the most beautiful bay in the Peloponnese. A place where history meets a fabulous natural landscape. A holiday destination made for water sports and outdoor activities in Greece. Without a doubt, Navarino Bay is made for kayak tours that are not only about the sport, but also about sightseeing and history. It is this combination that makes the 4 hour kayak trip from Pylos such a successful mix. A family friendly tour with a guide who knows the winds, the water and the essentials.

The Navarino Bay kayak tour starts from the quiet beach of Divari, where we first familiarise ourselves with the equipment and the day's route. On the water we can admire Pylos and the fortress of Niokastro. Weather permitting, we paddle south towards an impressive natural stone arch that rises out of the water and serves as a nesting and resting place for many species of birds. Underwater caves and tunnels can also be found on this small island. The uninhabited island of Sphacteria is our anchorage for a short walk to the viewpoint. The kayak tour in the bay of Navarino includes a stop for a swim, where we learn how to get in and out of the kayak. We have a picnic lunch for the return journey.
