Detailed description

Rhodes city sightseeing with guided tour through the old town

Back to the Middle Ages - no easier way to do this than in the old town of Rhodes, which is a World Heritage Site and a veritable treasure trove of historical traces. Spend a few pleasant hours at the northern tip of the island during our sightseeing tour of Rhodes City and let a professional guide take you through the history of this city. We will experience the rich contrasts between the old and the new world, see some of the impressive sights and walk on the traces of the ancient world. Rhodes' history of origins begins well before the Christian era. A guided tour through the old town of Rhodes combines amazement at art and architecture with interesting facts from history books and authentic stories of island life.

Included in this Rhodes sightseeing tour is a bus transfer from the region between Kolympia and Kremasti in the north. You will be picked up at your hotel or a nearby meeting point.  Our Rhodes tour takes place in a small group with a maximum of 19 participants and in the afternoon, when the rush of visitors in the capital of the island has subsided a little. After a bus tour with live commentary through the New Town of Rhodes, a photo stop on the Acropolis and a panoramic view of the city, we visit the Italian port of Mandraki - a real attraction of Rhodes. Supposedly the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the 7 wonders of the world, stood here. The oversized bronze statue collapsed during an earthquake and was not rebuilt. Worth seeing here is, among other things, the New Market, a heptagonal building in oriental style built by the Italians.

The port of Mandraki is also the entrance to the old town of Rhodes. Here we disembark and follow the guide on foot through the history of the island. We walk along the Knights' Road to the Grand Master's Palace - the showpiece of the old town. Built on the ruins of an acropolis, collapsed and rebuilt by the Italians. On request we can extend the tour with a guided tour of the Archaeological Museum. The entrance fee is 8 Euro and has to be paid additionally. Especially the change between the New Town and the Old Town of Rhodes shows the historical and cultural richness of the island capital. With our Rhodes Sightseeing Tour we would like to give you as many impressions of this wonderful city as possible.

Ancient & modern meet

History and today meet in Rhodes City. Medieval oriental buildings next to 21st century architecture. A beautiful city.

Antike & Moderne treffen sich

Auf Rhodos Stadt treffen sich Geschichte und das Heute. Mittelalterliche orientalische Bauten neben Architektur des 21. Jahrhunderts. Eine schöne Stadt.

i liked the port of mandraki best

whether the colossus was here or not - it doesn't matter. the atmo was pleasant. the people friendly.

mir hat der hafen von mandraki am besten gefallen

Historical interface

Orient & Occident once touched on Rhodes. I was able to enjoy rich cultural treasures on this tour.

Historische Schnittstelle

Orient & Okzident berührten sich einst auf Rhodos. Kulturschätze satt konnte ich auf dieser Führung genießen.

Kulturbanause

Museum, culture, history - not really my thing. But because of my Petra I'm with. And I have to say: these 4 hours were well done and just good so as not to get boring.

Kulturbanause

Museum, Kultur, Geschichte – eigentlich nicht mein Ding. Aber wegen meiner Petra bin ich mit. Und ich muss sagen: Diese 4 Stunden waren gut gemacht und gerade gut, um nicht langweilig zu werden.
