With so many day trips on offer, it quickly becomes clear that sailing on Mallorca is really popular. And not without reason, as there are few activities that are as varied and relaxing as sailing day trips. What's more, it is very pleasant on the sea in the hot summer, as there is always a light breeze when sailing in Mallorca and a dip in the cool water is wonderfully refreshing. The day trips differ mainly according to the region of Mallorca you want to sail in and the type of boat you prefer. A full-day excursion usually lasts around 8 hours. Incidentally, a sailing day trip is also a great gift.

To spend a relaxing day at sea in the south of Mallorca, there are various sailing day trips at sunbonoo: sail around the north of the island, in the south or in the east. The sailing day trips in the north start from Pollensa and Alcúdia and take you for a day along the impressive north coast. This is particularly known for its perfect sailing conditions and as a good sailing area, as the coastline offers wonderful views due to the outgoing Sierra de Tramuntana. In the east of the island, sailing day trips depart from Portocolom or Cala d'Or, where you can discover the many small bays along the coast. In the east of Mallorca there are a large number of caves that you can discover while sailing and clean, secluded bays with ideal conditions for snorkelling. On the sailing day trips in the south, you can start comfortably from Palma, Cala Major or a little further south-west in Santa Ponsa. The day trips in the south and south-west often lead not only to the impressive Bahia de Palma with its kilometre-long beaches, but also to smaller, turquoise-blue bays. There are hardly any day trips in the west, as there are hardly any sheltered harbours due to the rugged and steep coastline and the sailing weather is often difficult.

Sailing on Mallorca: day trips by boat type

On most day trips in Mallorca, you will sail on a classic sailing yacht. The sailing boats usually offer space for around 8-12 people and are comfortably equipped. This makes day trips sailing in Mallorca a very relaxed experience: Sunbathe on deck, use the swim ladder for swimming and snorkelling during the swimming break and enjoy the freshly prepared food from the galley. Sailing in Mallorca is also great fun on a catamaran, but the catamaran day trips are rarely longer than 3-5 hours at sea. A catamaran is very stable and calm in the water and offers plenty of space: up to 140 people can fit on a large catamaran, but most smaller ones take between 40-100 people. Half-day and full-day trips on a catamaran are usually cheaper than sailing trips, but if you want to feel the wind in your sails and experience the typical heel, you should spend a day sailing on a sailing yacht. Many skippers are happy to show you how to set the sails - so you not only experience a beautiful day at sea, but also learn a few sailing moves at the same time.
