Detailed description

Nature experience of a special kind: Bike tour in Doñana Natural Park

Once the Guadalquivir river emptied into a 100 km broad river delta into the Atlantic Ocean. It formed a giant natural harbour that was the hub of the sea trade back then. Nowadays the former harbour basin is sheltered by a large sand bank. Behin it, Doñana Natural Park begins, with an entire surface of 54,000 hectars. It is one of the biggest European nature reserves. When you're biking through Doñana Natural Park, you can spot large pine forests, brushlands and wetlands that characterize the idyllic landscape.

The natural park is also a refuge for numerous unique and endangered animals. The rare imperial eagle or the Iberian lynx live in the wetlands, that are also a very important stopover for migrating birds. More than 300 different bird species from Asia and Africa stop off here. When you're cycling with the bike through Doñana Natural Park, it's also highly likely that you'll see lots of flamingos with their flamboyant feathering, that strut through the ponds while searching for food.

Are you keen on exploring this unique area together with your family or friends? A bike tour offers a great variation for participants of all ages. On one hand, the approximately 20 km long bike tours in Doñana Natural Park are a sporty way of enjoying your leisure time and you can use the modern and well-equipped bikes provided. On the other hand, you can absolutely enjoy the nature, when the experienced local guide leads you through the natural park. Along the way you can see free-roaming horses and cattle and with a bit of luck you can also spot some shy deers and boars in the woods.
