Before we set off from Ponta Delgada, our guide will give us a safety briefing so that all quad bikers can start this adventure tour well prepared and safe. The quad tour will take us along a beautiful route to the magical crater lake Sete Cidades. During the ascent there are great viewpoints from both sides of the island. Among others, we stop at Lagoa das Empadadas to enjoy the view over the volcanic cones all the way to Ribeira Grande. For driving excitement, the off-road part of the trip will be in Cumeeira, which will also give us a magnificent view overlooking the volcano, the mountains and the sea. For lunch we will stop at a local restaurant and have a buffet lunch. Via the Bay of Silence we will continue to the viewpoint Cerrado as Freiras, we will have the best view of Lagoa do Santiago and take Pico do Carvão before returning to the starting point of the quad tour via Bom pastor.

Quad Tour to the Sete Cidades Volcanic Crater in São Miguel, Azores Island

The Vista do Rei viewpoint at the Sete Cidades caldera is around 300 metres high. From up there, you have a wonderful view of the unique lake landscape of this day trip destination in São Miguel. And you can see very well from up there why one lake is called Lagoa Verde (green) and the other Lagoa Azul (blue). It is almost unreal colours that shimmer through the special landscape and make this Sete Cidades Quad Tour such a spectacular experience.

Our route from Ponta Delgada takes us to all the little wonders of this crater landscape off the west coast of Sao Miguel. The Ponta Delgada Quad Tour leads us through Canada Goyanes, Muro das 9 Janelas, Pico da cruz, Cumeeira norte vista do miradouro, Seara and of course to the village of the same name, Vila das Sete Cidades. There, for lunch, we will familiarise ourselves with the local cuisine of the Azores, before heading to Pico do Carvão via the Bay of Tranquillity and the famous Lagoa das Sete Cidades bridge in the second part. From here we can view the entire island ridge.
