Booking option: Full Day Tour to the Island of Panarea and Stromboli

From Lipari, you first go by boat to the small island of Panarea. Passing beautiful bays like Calajunco, you will go directly to the harbour in Panarea, where a 2-hour stop will be made. There you will have time to explore the area on your own. Panarea offers beaches within walking distance, as well as the prehistoric village of Capo Milazzese, which is a 45 minute walk or a short ride away on one of the local electric taxis. Afterwards, continue by boat around some of the small islands to Stromboli. Depending on the weather, there may be a short swim stop - so don't forget your swimming costume.

Once you arrive on Stromboli, you have 2 hours to spend as you wish. The highlight of the island is the volcanic crater, which you can view from the observatory, which is only 400 metres away from the harbour. We also recommend a visit to one of the black-sand beaches or to the church of San Bartolomeo, from which you have a magnificent view of the harbour.

Afterwards, return to the boat to Sciara del Fuoco, from where you have a perfect view of the volcano's constant eruptions from a safe distance. At around 22:30 you return to the port of Lipari.

Detailed description

Combined Panarea and Stromboli Island Tour - Boat Trip and Sightseeing from Lipari

If you're planning a sightseeing holiday in Sicily, a Panarea Island and Stromboli Volcano Tour is perhaps the greatest adventure in the Lipari Islands. From the observatory you can marvel at the world's most active volcano. If you're lucky, you'll see fountains shooting out of the volcano - from a safe distance, of course. About every 20 to 30 minutes, the Stromboli volcano spews ash and lava into the air - an incredible natural spectacle. The Stromboli Volcano Tour starts with the boat trip from Lipari. From there, you first set course for Panarea, the oldest and smallest of the Lipari Islands with charming villages and bays worth seeing. Once at the harbour, you can explore the island on your own for 2 hours. For example, swim at Spiaggetta di Zimmari - one of the few sandy beaches on the island or visit the prehistoric village of Capo Milazzese, which dates back to 1400 BC. You can reach the village either on foot in 45 minutes or by taking one of the local electric taxis. The church of San Pietro is also worth a visit, as it is considered the most important sacred building on the island.

On the way from Panarea to Stromboli, you can marvel at the idyllic village of Ginostra, which is cut off from the rest of Stromboli Island and can only be reached by boat. Depending on the captain's discretion and the weather and sea conditions, there is the possibility to jump into the refreshing water from the boat for a cool down. Next, the route takes you to Sciara del Fuoco and Strombolicchio, a small island where a lighthouse has been built for navigation. Once you reach the island of Stromboli, you also have free time to stay here for 2 hours. The above-mentioned observatory at the volcano is about 400 metres away. But Stromboli also has other sights to offer: There are various beaches with black sand such as Forgia Vecchia, Ficogrande and Punta Lena. The church of San Bartolomeo is no less impressive and was built in 1801. From Piazza San Vincenzo you have a great view of the harbour as well as Scari beach - including Strombolicchio volcano. At sunset, we return by boat to Sciara del Fuoco to watch from the sea the impressive spectacle of the eruptions of this permanently active volcano. Return to the port of Lipari Marina Corta is scheduled for 22:30.

This Stromboli volcano sends out really strange vibes

Lava, ash, sparks - that's impressive. But I felt a lot more. The slight vibration of the ground, the strange air, the sounds and smells of the open earth. An incomparable adventure that I really enjoyed.

Visiting the volcano in Italy - unfortunately only in English.

For this holiday in Sicily, I (Italy fan) took out my VHS documents for the Italian course and practiced. But then the professional guide who led our small group to the summit chatters, only in English!

From Lipari to the Sicilian growler named Stromboli

Yes, you can feel the force of nature, but I found the volcano more like a good-natured grumpy bear. In any case, this combined tour is very special.

Feel the power of nature for 10 hours

Both the boat trip and the hike to the crater of the volcano gave me (again) respect for the power of nature. I was excited.

10 Stunden Naturkraft spüren

Sowohl die Bootfahrt, als auch die Wanderung zum Krater des Vulkans flößten mir (wieder) Respekt vor der Kraft der Natur ein. Ich war begeistert.
