Detailed description
Agrotourism excursion on Tenerife with banana & wine tasting
Discover agritourism on Tenerife. Our half-day excursion takes us to a banana farm and a wine cellar at 1200 metres above sea level. In both farms we will experience a tour and a tasting of the harvest. Banana cultivation has a long tradition on Tenerife and is a not insignificant economic sector. Tenerife is home to the "Plátano de Canarias", which is in demand worldwide. A variety that is small and sweet. Tenerife offers ideal conditions for banana cultivation - we can see this for ourselves in the Plátanera, as the banana farms are called. Our half-day tour starts in the south of the island with guests being picked up from their hotel or nearby meeting points. In an air-conditioned bus and with an experienced tour guide, we first head to one of the banana farms. During a tour of the farm, we learn how this fruit has been cultivated over the years. We also learn about the history of gofio, how it is prepared and the different ways of eating it. And we will taste local products made from bananas, gofio and palm honey.
The ascent to the Mirador de la Centinela offers us a spectacular panoramic view over the banana plantations, the vineyards and the entire south of the island. On a clear day, you can even see the Teide. Centinela is located in the upper south of the island, on the border between the municipalities of Arona and San Miguel, on the TF-28 road. It is a stone viewpoint from which you can enjoy a marvellous view of San Miguel and El Roque del Conde and thus of the island's volcanic tradition. We will also see what part agriculture has played in the utilisation and shaping of the land. We then take a minibus to a winery at an altitude of 1200 metres, where we can taste Canarian wines. Of course, we will take part in a guided tour of the winery beforehand and learn more about wine production on the island directly from the winemaker.

Customer Reviews Between banana farm & wine cellar on Tenerife
Nice hike with cultural enrichment
Basically we liked the hike. The hiking guide spoke very good German and showed us a lot and gave us useful information about the culture of the mountain villages and Tenerife. The wine tasting and tapas were very good, but the hike itself could have been more challenging. Otherwise we do completely different routes.
