Sustained Whale Watching Tour in Tenerife

Booking option: 2-hour whale watching tour from Los Cristianos

We set off from the port of Los Cristianos on board a Turkish gulet for whale watching off the south coast of Tenerife and carefully approach the migration routes of some large whale species and dolphins. We leave it up to the animals what will happen on this 2-hour trip. We will neither chase nor disturb the animals - they often come close to the boat on their own because they already know it. And if they decide to accompany us for a while, the meeting with these gentle, majestic creatures will be an unforgettable experience. Up to 21 different species can be found in Tenerife's waters, from the colossal blue whale to the dreaded killer whale. On board, our passengers will receive all the information they need about the species that migrate or live in this part of the Antlantic, but also about the problems that whales and dolphins face all over the world. The crew of the whale watching boat is one of the supporters of the wildlife organisation Sea Shepherd, part of the proceeds directly benefit the projects and animal protection.

Detailed description

Respectful whale watching off the south coast of Tenerife - tour from Los Cristianos

Being able to watch whales and dolphins is definitely one of the highlights of a holiday in Tenerife. Nowhere else in Europe so many people have at least once enjoyed the natural spectacle of whale watching in the wild or enjoyed the dolphins that crossed their path next to or in front of their boat. Numerous species of whales and dolphins have made their home in the Atlantic or pass through these seas on their migratory routes. The south coast of Tenerife is one of the hotspots for whale and dolphin sightings. It is not without reason that boat tours to the dolphin schools start there every day. The understanding for the sensitive animals and the idea of sustainability have led many providers to a respectful treatment of the marine fauna and to a different kind of whale-watching tours. Of course, every skipper wants to give his guests this experience, but not at any price.

We can influence our whale watching on Tenerife with the right course, because we know where the animals live. But we will neither hunt them nor get too close to them, not even for the most beautiful photo. The animals decide whether they want to come towards us or not. Many of the whales and dolphins living off Tenerife know the boats cruising off the south coast and therefore have confidence. Our crew enjoys the spectacular wildlife that the sea is home to every day and wants to protect it. So a biologist is part of the team who will share as much information as possible during the whale watching about the species sighted and about the problems whales and dolphins face worldwide. Off the south and south-west coast of Tenerife, it is mainly demersal whales and bottlenose dolphins that have decided to stay because of the food supply and the climate. Up to 21 different species - from blue whales to killer whales - have a home around Tenerife.
