A little bit more about the Coves de Campanet

The Caves of Campanet are located on the southern hills of the Serra de Tramuntana (in the north of Mallorca). They occupy an area of approximately 3200m², reach a depth of 50 metres and have created an opening of nearly 16,000 cubic metres. The tour, inside the caves, lasts around 40 minutes, and takes you on different pathways with cool passages and chambers, some even have small water pools.

The curious caves are distinguished by the quality and richness of their calcareous deposits in the form of stalactites and stalagmites. In addition to the cave´s natural attractive qualities, different aspects have attracted the attention of scientists and naturalists throughout history. 

Whilst work was being carried out to prepare the caves for visitors, the fossilised remains of Myotragus balearicus were found, a species of goat-like animal from Mallorca and Menorca which became extinct 4,000 years ago - following the arrival of humans on the islands.

The caves have inspired artists and poets such as Casimir Tarrassó and Bartomeu Guasp i Gelabert who composed the ode "Caves of Sant Miquel" (1949).
The “Coves de Campanet” have also served as the set for various films.

A dream came true

It was our engagement trip and we had triumphed. The car was in top condition for its age. The tour was fantastic. We are already considering whether to repeat this for the honeymoon ...! 5 stars

Nothing for me ...

Even after the sightseeing tour, I still cannot distinguish between stalactites and stalagmites. But my marriage pons was thrilled ...

... don't take it seriously!

My husband always has something to complain about. He didn't like the caves because he had given himself too much of the ouzo the night before. And with thick kopp, the enjoyment is only half as great. Don't take his comment seriously. I can recommend the tour!

...nehmt den nicht Ernst!

Mein Mann hat immer was zu meckern. Er fand die Höhlen nicht so toll, weil er sich am Abend vorher zu viel von dem Ouzo gegönnt hatte. Und mit dicken Kopp ist der Genuß nur halb so toll. Nehmt seinen Kommentar nicht ernst. Ich kann die Tour empfehlen!
