Detailed description

Hiking at the volcano on Fuerteventura: Conquer the Montaña de Escanfraga

Fuerteventura as part of the Canary Islands belongs to a volcanic archipelago, accordingly the mountains and elevations are often old craters and funnels of volcanoes. Not least the volcanic rock gives the island in the light of the setting sun a splendid fiery play of colours of nature. The highest elevation in the north of the island is the volcano Montaña de Escanfraga, better said the cone with the crater that is still left of it. An adventurous hiking trail leads the willing mountain hiker around the crater up to the highest point from which one has a unique view far over the island. You can see the dune landscape of Corralejo, a sea of sand and shifting dunes, dotted with decent vegetation. Also the Isla de Lobos and the south coast of Lanzarote are visible.

For hiking at the volcano Montaña de Escanfraga over the hiking path you come over a well passable serpentine route. Despite the rather easy degree of difficulty of the hikes, this tour with physical restrictions is not to be recommended. You don't have to be a very experienced mountaineer. The tour is therefore also suitable for people who simply want to get high and who have the wanderlust packed. The hiking at the volcano Montaña de Escanfraga will take you about 5-6 hours in total, of which 3-4 hours are estimated as hiking. Enjoy the nature of Fuerteventura up close and personal and challenge yourself with this lively holiday enterprise!
