Once arrived, we take a break and let one of the most beautiful panoramic points of Lake Garda take effect on us. Afterwards we descend on an old path through the steep mountain slopes to Limone. There we look at the historical lime groves and admire the beautiful old town. On the return trip to Riva by boat we are once again impressed by the breathtaking mountain world of northern Lake Garda.

Village traditions and hidden corners of the Ledro valley.

There we are told more about the old traditions of this traditional place. We then ascend through the mountain forest to the wonderfully situated hamlet of Leano and hike from there on insider trails to Bocca dei Fortini and Passo Nota. We enjoy our lunch break in wide surroundings and enjoy the traditional cuisine. The descent finally brings us to Lake Ledro, whose clear water makes us want to dive.

World War I tunnels and fantastic panoramic views high above Lake Garda.

Before ascending from Biacesa towards the summit of "La Rocca", we visit the village to see some interesting artifacts from the First World War that our guide discovered in the area. This gives us a clearer idea of the adverse conditions under which the soldiers lived on this section of the front line. Behind the church of San Giovanni, high above Biacesa, we set off on a journey through the old tunnels, trenches and fortifications that run through the mountain, equipped with headlamps. We climb to the summit with a fantastic view of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Great Tremalzo crossing with views of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains.

Starting point is the Rifugio Garda in the Tremalzo area. Thus we get to know this magnificent mountain region high above Lake Garda almost without any ascent. Via the beautiful, historic Tremalzo gravel road we reach the Passo Nota. We have time to discover the alpine flora and enjoy the magnificent, wide landscape at wonderful panoramic points. After a break for lunch we cross the Passo Guil to the small hamlet of Leano and finally down into the valley to Prè and Biacesa.

5th Trekking Tour: The Peace Trail

Sensational hike on the ridge, high above the Ledro valley.

From Malga Trat in the Ledro valley we quickly reach the Rifugio Pernici and on the "Peace Trail" - which follows the course of the First World War - to Bocca Saval and the summit of Cima Parì. Trenches, positions and remains of team camps and military hospitals revive on the path the memory of the military past of this mountain range. From the top of Cima Parì we follow the ridge to Cima d'Oro. The colourful alpine flora and the wonderful view of the Ledro valley and the surrounding mountains up to the Brenta Dolomites make you forget all your troubles. Finally we descend to Bocca Giumela and hike steeply back to Biacesa.

Hidden warpaths high above Lake Garda.

Detailed description

Trekking and hiking at Lake Garda, Italy

The region, crossed by excellent trekking routes, around Lake Garda and the Dolomites are home to some of the most exciting mountains in Europe, some of the most beautiful and certainly also the most unusual. You may have seen some of the impressive photos and films of the Dolomites, but reality will always exceed your expectations. The huge limestone towers that rise above the surrounding scree slopes and high meadows, with their beautiful, often virgin mixed forests on the lower slopes, remind you of the majestic tranquillity.

Our trekking routes on Lake Garda are carefully selected and meander over high rocky plateaus and meadows, under a constantly changing backdrop of cliffs and ascending massifs. Hiking on Lake Garda for families with small children is also a great experience for everyone and can bring deep relaxation. For families with children and those seeking relaxation in quiet surroundings, there are many shady, relatively flat and even stroller-friendly walks in the woods or along the lake.

The best time to visit the Dolomites with trekking tours on Lake Garda and its pleasant climate - cool in summer, quiet and snowy in winter - is the best time to visit the area whenever you feel like it! Enjoy mild summer hikes or trekking with snowshoes in winter and explore the impressive landscape. There is also a lot to do culturally in and around Arco: Enjoy the unique delicacies of the region, hearty local dishes, or explore the many interesting museums.

A sign against killing: the peace walking trail

Two days after my great e-bike tour (see here: https://www.sunbonoo.com/de/e-bike-tour-gardasee-guide-italien-7467 ) I then "booked" the Peace Hiking Trail. Generations of nature lovers have hiked here before me, and they did so to set a sign against war. The tour was beautiful, but I was pensive...

Not for hikers: Lake Garda hike for nature lovers

It wasn't a walk - and it shouldn't be. The route was well chosen, the views over the diverse landscape magnificent. 5 stars from me.

Holistic active vacation

There is a lot you can do for body and mind on one of the tours. Eyes away from the mobile phone display and looked at the real offline world. I clearly felt the inner relaxation from the physical activity. The good air, the wide landscape and a friendly guide did me a lot.

Ganzheilicher Aktiv-Urlaub

Tour 6: high tension or horror?

In my opinion, the “high-voltage tour” should be called the “scary tour”. The dark war tunnels have something very creepy about them. Still 4.51 stars.

Tour 6: Hochspannung oder Grusel?

Die „Hochspannungs-Tour“ müßte meiner Meinung nach „Grusel-Tour“ heißen. Die dunklen Kriegstunnel jedenfalls habe etwas seeeeehr gruseliges. Trotzdem 4,51 Sterne.

Tremalzo hike with an alpine challenge

Tour 4 of this offer takes you to over 1300 meters. I went through it and if you have a weakness for alpine flora and great views, I can warmly recommend it.

Great Lake view offered fantastic views

This trekking tour is only for people with a head for heights and good physical fitness, after all, 850 meters of altitude must be conquered. Good footwear is an absolute must. If you heed these rules, the tour is a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Great Lake view bot fantastische Ausblicke

5. Trekking tour: The peace hiking trail

My great-grandfather fought nearby during World War. That's why I really wanted to take this peace hiking trail. It was touching to see the trenches and positions in which people once died so senselessly.

5. Trekking-Tour: Der Friedenswanderweg

Hiking tours on Lake Garda: a pleasure

Lake Garda offers many great hiking opportunities. Only with the tips of an experienced hiking guide can you get to the "beautiful" corners. Everything was perfect here. A good offer.
