Detailed description

Van tour from Lisbon to Fátima, Batalha Nazaré and Óbidos - the perfect alternative to the crowded coach!

If you are looking for an individual tour to the most beautiful sights around Lisbon, you have come to the right place! Whether as a couple or privately as a whole group, the professional and multilingual tour guide will cater to your needs in the best possible way. With a maximum of 7 participants, the Van Tour starts in the morning from the centre of Lisbon.

The first stop of the tour is about 130 kilometres north of Lisbon and is the world famous pilgrimage site of Fatima. The sanctuary of Fátima was visited by over 9 million people in 2017, 100 years after the Marian apparition of the three shepherd children Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta, and is considered one of the most important and significant Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. Fatima is also home to the Church of the Blessed Trinity, the fourth largest Catholic Church in the world. This impressive building can accommodate almost 9000 people.

After your stay in Fátima, the Van Tour Lisbon takes you further towards the Atlantic coast with possible stops in Batalha and/or Alcobaça. The village of Batalha is famous for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dominican monastery that gave its name to the village, which was built between the 14th and 16th centuries. The monastery impresses not only by its size but also by its special architectural style. The closest small town, Alcobaça, is located about 10 kilometres from the Atlantic coast and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Like Batalha, Alcobaça is characterized by a monastery church and additionally by a large medieval castle.

Punctually at lunchtime you will reach Nazaré. The small town directly on the Atlantic coast is known as a fishing village, place of pilgrimage and surf stop. In a restaurant of your choice (the tour guide will be happy to advise you) you will have enough time for lunch with a large selection of freshly caught fish and seafood (not included in the price). The tour guide will also take you to Sítio de Nazaré. From this viewpoint, which is religiously venerated, you have the best view of Nazaré and the Atlantic Ocean. Here, with a bit of luck, you can also see the notorious monster waves, which can reach a height of over 23 meters. Nazaré has established several surfing records and championships are held regularly.

With the small town of Óbidos the Lisbon day tour reaches its last stop. Here you can once again go on a time travel into the Middle Ages. Óbidos enchants with its winding alleys and its white houses, which are lovingly covered with flowers, vases and tiles. In addition, the small town is surrounded by a completely preserved and accessible medieval city wall. In the centre is a large castle from the 12th century.

Throughout the tour, the tour guide will provide you with interesting and useful information about the individual places and sights. Of course you can also ask your own questions at any time!

ok

I´m not really interested in history and religion so the tour was a boring for me but lunch was great and I came back to my cruise ship on time. Next time I rather would walk arround in the centre of Lisbon.

No giant waves .. :(

We have been waiting a long time to see the famous giant waves. When we arrived on the coast there were no huge waves. Otherwise the tour was fine.

Keine Riesenwellen.. :(

Wir haben lange darauf gewartet, die berühmten Riesenwellen zu sehen. Als wir dann an der Küste angekommen sind gab es keine Riesenwellen. Sonst war die Tour in Ordnung.
