Full day jeep safari from Funchal to the southwest of Madeira
This wonderful jeep safari in Madeira leads you through the rugged southwest of the island. The beauty of the incredible landscape, far away of the touristic routes, will delight you. You'll drive in convertible jeeps through small, remote villages and into the mountains. The island still depends on the agriculture, like you'll be able to see during the 4x4 tour from Funchal. Still nowadays, sugar cane and bananas are cultivated on the terraces, i.e. in the villages Campanário, located on a small rock island, and Ponta do Sol, the most sunny point of the island.
Afterwards, the local guides drive you high up into the mountains. On narrow, steep pathways and off-road through the terrain, you'll reach the largest high plateau of the island. Here, you'll find a natural park in the forest, Fonte do Bispo, whose visit with the 4x4 jeeps from Funchal is a very special experience, that you'll only be able to enjoy like this in an all-terrain vehicle. From above you can enjoy the impressive views and get to know lots of interesting facts from the drivers about the island of Madeira, the landscape and the volcanic origin of the island.
On some places, you can still see the volcanic channels, through which once the magma flowed. The mountains once were volcanos, fire craters. On the tour back to the southwest coast, you'll pass some marvellous villages. A highlight amongst them is Prazeres, but also the other villages like Fajã da Ovelha will charm you. With so many exciting impressions, it's clear that a break for lunch is needed, so you can relax for a while during a typical menu (not included in the price). This Madeira jeep excursion will be an incredible memory of your holidays.
Valid on the reserved day or for 12 months after date of purchase if no date has been selected. You will receive the tour operator's details with the purchased ticket. Attention: reservation is required! The reservation can be made through sunbonoo as part of the booking process or later by contacting the tour operator directly via phone or email.
