Jeep Safari to Etna - exciting volcanic tour in Sicily

The most powerful volcano in Europe calls: Experience an unforgettable jeep safari to Etna in Sicily during your holiday in Italy. On this volcano tour you visit the north side / north-east side of the massif, cross the imposing volcanic landscape on the way and reach the stage destination with the 4x4 Power at more than 1500 meters height. One part of the tour leads over asphalted roads, the other off-road through adventurous terrain. During the shorter Etna Jeep Tour you will be on the road with a professional guide in an off-road vehicle for about 4 hours and can join a trekking tour on the volcano. This gives you the opportunity to take the volcanic rock under your own feet. You can also combine the Jeep Tour to Etna with lunch and a wine tasting. In this case the trip takes about 6 hours and you will stop off with your guide in a Sicilian restaurant.

Starting point for both Etna tours in a jeep is Viagrande in Catania. The metropolitan region of the same name lies in eastern Sicily and is framed by the volcano on one side and the Ionian Sea on the other. With so many scenic highlights, the volcano tour on Sicily is definitely a holiday highlight. If you have always wanted to see a volcano up close, then take a look at Sicily, the largest and most active volcano in Europe. A visit to Etna is a lasting experience. Lava flows, craters and ashes are an unparalleled natural spectacle. For centuries, eruptions have shaped the landscape and created a remarkable natural backdrop, which has been under protection for many years and is a World Heritage Site. One of the most impressive scenery is the high valley Valle die Bove on the eastern side of the volcano. There the slopes reach far over 1000 meters and one looks into deep canyons.

Climbing Etna is not only interesting for hikers, but also possible by car. On your excursion you will cross fertile orange valleys and bizarre moonscapes, pass winding mountain roads and gravel tracks to reach the higher stations or the magnificent viewing platforms on the mountain. After the tour you will be driven by jeep back to the starting point of the Etna Safari to Viagrande.

The driver really had it together

Boarding off-road along the volcano with the off-road boxes! You really need some driving skills. In any case, I feel safe and would recommend the tour at any time.

Der Fahrer hatte es echt drauf

Mit den Geländekisten offroad am Vulkan langzubrettern! Da braucht es schon fahrerisches Können. Ich fühle mich jedenfalls sicher und würde die Tour jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

4 hours through volcanic terrain. Unique.

Etna is an awe-inspiring mountain. There is something energetic about the whole atmosphere. Apart from a puncture (which was fixed within 15 minutes), there is nothing negative to report.

4 Stunden durchs vulkanische Gelände. Einmalig.

Der Etna ist ein Respekt einflößender Berg. Die ganze Atmosphäre hat etwas Energiegeladenes. Bis auf eine Reifenpanne (die innerhalb von 15 Minuten behoben war) gibt es nichts Negatives zu berichten.

Option 2 → Etna Jepp Safari with food and wine tasting

The tour itself and also the typical regional food were volcanic! I award 5 small volcanoes. Gladly again.

2. Option → Ätna Jepp Safari mit Essen und Weinverkostung

Die Tour an sich und auch das regionaltypische Essen waren vulkanös! Ich vergebe 5 kleine Vulkane. Gerne nochmals.

The volcanic landscape is impressive

I had taken the Jepp safari with option 2. The whole day was great. The weather was ideal and I was able to enjoy the wonderful views and the good lunch as well as the volcano ascent itself.
