The road trip begins in the village of Pyrgos, better known on the island as the historic monument. Situated on top of a hill, it houses the remains of a Venetian fortress. For defence, the village was built with narrow lanes and circular streets. In the centre of the castle you can see the Church of the Virgin Mary and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. From there you also have a fabulous view over the area around the village, surrounded by vineyards, chapels, churches and small charming houses.

In Megalochori, on the other hand, there is pure tradition. This local settlement consists of typically classical Cycladic houses in dazzling white and the blue roof domes of the church. Picturesquely, the ancient houses alternate harmoniously with more modern buildings. The Santorini Road Trip continues with sightseeing in Emporio. This former commercial centre offers many long lanes with enchanting rows of buildings that you can follow. Some of them also lead to the Black Beach of Volcanic Stones, which is always worth a souvenir photo. The spectrum of colourful beaches continues to fill Akrotiri in the south. Near the fortified town with the lighthouse and Akrotiri Castle, also known as La Ponta, lie the Red and White Beaches.
