During this day trip we will explore the oldest civilization in Europe, the Minoan Palace of Knossos, which is linked to exciting legends such as the myth of the labyrinth with the Minotaur and the story of Daidalos and Ikaros. The second stop during the small group tour is the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, one of the most important museums in Europe, where we can admire more than 15000 artefacts. Afterwards we will have the opportunity to stroll through Heraklion and discover a Venetian fortress at the entrance of the port, magnificent neoclassical buildings, Byzantine churches and many fountains.

The full day tour starts in the morning in Chania and surroundings (pick up included). You will experience the day trip in a modern, air-conditioned minibus for up to 19 people. On board we have WiFi and can watch a presentation about Cretan customs. Also included: Sandwiches and chilled drinks. Please note that the entrance fee for Knossos Palace and the local archaeological museum has to be paid in cash (combi-ticket).

Chania day trip to Knossos Palace and Heraklion

Look forward to a well organised day trip to Crete with a personal driver and two island highlights of great historical value. The day trip to Knossos Palace from Chania takes us along the north coast and enriches us with impressions of the island's landscape. We are travelling in a comfortable minibus with a maximum of 19 people on board. With the excavation site Knossos we visit not only the most important archaeological site of Crete, but also the centre of European civilisation. Knossos was in its heyday a city of more than 100,000 people and one of the most developed cities of the ancient Greek world. The day tour Knossos Palace and Museum Heraklion combines two of the most important cultural sites on the island and allows us to develop an understanding of history.

The Museum in Heraklion collects archaeological artefacts from the entire island, thus following on from a visit to Knossos Palace, and at the same time reveals the richness of Minoan culture. The Chania day tour Knossos and Heraklion takes about 10 hours and leaves us enough time to stop at the different stations. So after visiting Knossos Palace and Museum we will have free time for a city walk in Heraklion. For this purpose you will receive an informative city map in advance to help you find your way around. Before we return to Chania we will finally visit the port of Heraklion with its Venetian fortress.
