Detailed description

Discovery trip with e-bikes: Cycling tour in Crete with hiking in the magnificent Myli gorge

You want to experience more than just sun, beach and sea during your holiday in Greece? Then take a cycling tour in Crete and discover the island of the gods comfortably by e-bike. Join one of the best crete cycling tours on the island! It is more about a bicycle-hiking tour in Crete, as you will stop at the enchanting Myli Gorge to cover a distance of about 1.5 km on foot. The easy bike tour has a length of approx. 22 km and is good to manage with the e-bikes. If your hotel is in Rethymno, pick-up is included in the price and you will be collected comfortably at your accommodation in the morning.

The e-bike cycling tour in Crete takes you from Rethymno uphill through picturesque olive groves and you make the first stop at Halevi Monastery, which is surrounded by a wonderful garden. There you will see the single-nave church of Panagia with its flame-shaped windows and the ruin of the monastery building, which has been placed under a preservation order. The bicycle guide is always at your side and provides you with lots of interesting information about the country and its people.

You continue by e-bike to the village of Chromonastiri, which also belongs to the municipality of Rethymno and stands out for its Venetian houses. There you will visit Villa Glodio, which is home to the Military Museum, which you can visit optionally (entrance is not included in the price). Afterwards you reach the Myli Gorge during the cycling tour in Crete. You set out on a short hike through the green oasis with its diverse flora and fauna and visit the abandoned village of Mili, which is gradually being recaptured by nature. It was named after the water mills there, since the former inhabitants were mainly millers and ground grain. Charming small churches and a restored mill can be admired. Due to the fear of landslides, the last inhabitants left the small village in 1972 and settled above the gorge. Today you can still find a café-restaurant there, which you can visit optionally (not included in the price).

The guided bicycle tour in Crete continues to the Cretan village of Roussospiti. There you will stop at a tavern and be spoiled with a selection of traditional dishes. Due to the elevated location you have a breathtaking panoramic view over Rethymno and the Mediterranean coast. After the lunch, you ride the e-bike to the monastery of Aghia Irini (Saint Irene), talk to the nuns there and learn more about the history of this place before slowly starting your way back to your starting point.

Discover Crete by bike and experience the divine island in the middle of a wonderful environment from its original side!
