Booking option: Cretan countryside jeep adventure from Malia

Discover the heart of Crete on an exciting jeep safari that takes you through the green countryside and the traditional life of the locals. Start your adventure in the picturesque village of Potamies, where you can watch goats being milked and traditional milk and flour products being made at a local sheep farm - and of course taste them!

From there, continue to the Aposelemis Dam, an impressive hydraulic engineering project that houses the ruins of the village of Sfendili. These lie partially submerged in the water of the reservoir, creating a spectacular sight. In the surrounding area, you can observe a variety of birds in their natural habitat. We drive up to the Empassa Gorge on dirt tracks, surrounded by majestic mountains and unspoilt nature. Here you will have the opportunity to pick local herbs and enjoy the breathtaking views. This is followed by a cookery course in which you will prepare dishes from fresh, local produce with the help of professional chefs.

We then visit the Lassithi plateau, which is known for its hospitality and authentic people. Here we will stop at a pottery workshop, where you will be introduced to the art of pottery and can try your hand at it. After a walk across the plateau and a break in a local cafeteria, we continue to a traditional restaurant where a hearty meal from the wood-fired oven awaits you. Strengthened, we continue our journey to the village of Krasi, which is known for its 18th century aqueduct and the oldest plane tree in Crete, which is over 2000 years old. The day is rounded off with a visit to an olive oil factory. After a day full of impressive experiences and unforgettable moments, you will return to your hotel, enriched with new insights into the life and culture of Crete.
