Booking option: Sightseeing tour on the island of Fuerteventura

Enjoy a tour of the island of Fuerteventura in a small group with no more than 8 people. Once you have been picked up, you start in an air-conditioned minivan in Corralejo and cross the centre of the island, passing through La Olivia, Montaña de Tindaya and Tefia. Our first stop is at a spectacular viewing platform designed by César Manrique - the Mirador Morro Velosa. From there we can enjoy the view across the whole of the north of the island, before we leave for Betancuria, which was the first capital of the island,. There we have time to explore the village’s alleyways on a short walk.

Eventually we reach la Presa de la Peñita on the Fuerteventura island tour. From the top of the vantage point we look into the large canyon and admire the 23-metre high dam. We take in the picturesque sandy beaches of Ajuy during lunch (not included). The guide will be happy to help you choose the right restaurant before we take a walk to the large caves on the beach. Back in the minivan we continue our trip to the south of the island and after a short drive we reach Costa Calma with its picturesque white beaches and beautiful lagoons.

On the way back to Corralejo we stop at the dunes in the nature park of the same name before we reach the starting point of the Fuerteventura island tour in the evening and you are taken back to your hotel or apartment.

Detailed description

Tour the island of Fuerteventura in minivan with start and pick-up in the north

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands, a paradise with more than 150 kilometres of sandy beaches, lots of sun and sea views. But the landscape that has been shaped by the volcanoes is also Amazing. The best way to see it is to go for a drive across the island. Discover the whole panorama, the hidden paths, breath-taking natural spaces and impressive towns on a tour of the island of Fuerteventura. From Corralejo in the north, you can reach the most important major sights of Fuerteventura, as well as some of the quiet ones, in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan in a small group of no more than 8 people.

The island tour offers several stops to enjoy views, hikes and Fuerteventura's cuisine. The Fuerteventura island tour takes you through the entire cosmos of this Canary Island archipelago. On the 8-hour round trip you cross the unique scenery in the centre of the island as you pass through La Olivia, Montaña de Tindaya and Tefia. The Mirador Morro Velosa viewpoint, which was designed by César Manrique, is a work of art right in the middle of the rugged and dry landscape. The ingenious platform provides a panoramic view across the green island and the north of Fuerteventura. Combined with a coffee break, this is  a perfect place for a stopover on our way to Betancuria, which was the first capital of the island and for many people the most beautiful town on Fuerteventura to this day. There we have time to explore the alleyways of the historic village with its pretty white houses and decorative palm trees during a short walk.

Once we leave Betancuria behind, the impressive area of Presa de la Peñita awaits us. The gorge, which has one of the few dams on the island, can be seen from a 23-metre-high vantage point. On the tour of the island of Fuerteventura we now reach the sandy beaches of Ajuy. We plan to stop for an hour here to have lunch to regain our strength and will then discover the legendary caves of Ajuy, which lie at the end of the black lava beach. The caves were once used by pirates as hiding places for ships, today they are a great place to visit on Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura has officially been a biosphere reserve for several years. The unique volcanic landscape, the clean beaches and the varied flora and fauna in the barren terrain are key factors in this. On the way south we will pass some of these jewels before we reach Costa Calma, one of the most important holiday resorts on Fuerteventura. Once we start our return journey heading north from the south, we stop once again on the way in the fabulous dunes of Corralejo. The Fuerteventura island tour ends with the return journey to your hotel or apartment.
