Booking option: Star hiking in the centre of the island of Gran Canaria

The astronomical walk starts in the centre of the island. From the meeting point, we will walk part of the Way of Santiago in Gran Canaria and reach one of the most popular places on the island: Ventana del Nublo. In this magical place we will experience the sunset and talk about the concepts of astronomy as the sky gets dark. We will continue our walk through the pine forests and stop to observe the starry sky. We will identify constellations and planets and have a hot drink to warm up. At the end of the route, we will walk in the forest without lights to feel nature with our senses. We will not use any tools (binoculars, telescopes...) during this activity. Detailed description

Astronomical hike in the centre of the island of Gran Canaria

Would you like to lie on the warm forest floor and gaze at the sky in silence? Then join us on an astronomical walk in the centre of Gran Canaria. There, where it is very quiet and clear in the evening and we will have the opportunity to admire some of the beautiful constellations amidst the rocky landscape. The 3-hour circular walk is easy to do. From our meeting point, we will first walk a section of the Way of St James and aim to reach the famous window to Roque Nublo by sunset. La Venta del Nublo is a wonderful setting that not only gives us a view of the island's landmark. We have gained quite a bit of altitude here and look down on the setting sun from an exclusive spot.

On our astronomical hike, we let time pass as we walk until the first lights appear in the sky. We have chosen a good spot for this, the centre of the island. Few light sources disturb the view of the sky here. With our professional guide at your side, you will match the first constellations and learn more about the concept of astronomy. Sometimes we get lucky and see shooting stars. On this astronomical walk in Gran Canaria, we don't want to use any technical equipment such as a telescope, but rather let the sky work its magic on us. The round walk lasts a good 3 hours, there are two stops and a warm drink under the starry sky.
