Last but not least on the day trip in Gran Canaria, is a visit to the impressive crater at Bandama volcano. It is located near Tafira, has a diameter of 1000m and is about 200m deep. The houses built on the crater floor, once inhabited by a farmer and his family, are now empty. You can see everything for yourself on a hike to the bottom of the crater. From the Pico de Bandama at 570m high you get a great view of Las Palmas and with a bit of luck of the Teide as well over in Tenerife. You then get dropped back by bus to the south and southwest.
