You will climb Calderón Hondo, one of the best preserved volcanoes on the island. Climb the crater rim and look down into the impressive depths of the cone from one of the most beautiful viewing balconies in the north. Walk through fossilised dunes and into La Cañada de Melian gorge, formed by millions of years of erosion.

We then visit the typical Canarian village of El Cotillo on the north-east coast, which has some of the best beaches on the island. Detailed description

Volcano trekking in the north of Fuerteventura

Coastline, volcanoes, desert and ravines - this variety makes any trekking tour in the north of Fuerteventura a real highlight. Add to this the panoramic views of a landscape thousands of years old and you have an entertaining walk through the history of the island. We take you on a trek to the edge of the Calderon Hondo crater and together we look down into the 65 metre deep cone.

Calderon Hondo stands in a row with 7 other volcanoes in the so-called Bayuyo series between Lajares and El Cotillo and stands out with a height of around 273 metres. It is a solitaire in an abstract landscape. It is also one of the most beautiful panoramic balconies in the north - on a clear day you can see as far as the neighbouring island of Lanzarote.

Trekking in the north of Fuerteventura also means walking through the desert, or at least through fossilised dunes. In summer there is usually no water in the Cañada de Melian ravine - endless sand. A scene of the seasons. Finally we reach El Cotillo, the surfers' village. A quiet village on the north coast that lives from and with the Atlantic waves. The forces of nature at work here are brought home to us at the Toston lighthouse, the last stop on this Fuerteventura trekking tour, before we take you back to the hotel. The excursion is for a maximum of 8 people.
