This tour is just right for you if this is the first time you’ll be descending into a canyon. Abseil down into one of Tenerife's most beautiful canyons: Los Arcos. A natural wonder with spectacular rock formations and dense flora. The canyoning tour in the Orotava Valley is suitable for beginners. However, you should be in good physical shape and not be afraid of heights. There is a short hike (there and back between 2 and 4 kilometres) before you abseil into the gorge. There are six abseiling points in the dry canyon, as well as uneven terrain and obstacles that are easy to climb. Your guide will show you to how to handle the ropes and harnesses safely.

The route to the canyon begins on a forest track with little slope, where you will walk for about 45 minutes. The beginning of the descent starts with a first rappel of about 22 meters. From here you can begin to observe how the accumulation of volcanic ash, which together with the erosion produced by the passage of the years naturally formed this spectacular channel where the orange walls and play of light and leftovers that will undoubtedly be our protagonists throughout the descent. After finishing the 8 rappels we will arrive at the Chimoche track and with it the end of the descent where we will take the way back.

Canyoning on Tenerife in the Canyon of Arcos (La Orotava)

Are you ready to go canyoning for the first time? Then you can expect an unforgettable adventure as you abseil down the Arcos Canyon. You will experience an exciting and active tour in the middle of the wild and beautiful nature of the Orotava Valley. Under the leadership of a sports climber, you will be shown how to handle the ropes, karabiners and harnesses safely as you go abseiling down the walls with their professional guidance. The canyoning adventure starts with a hike through the forest along unpaved paths. After a good 40 minutes you will reach the perfect starting point for this vertical tour on Tenerife.

When you go canyoning, you will hike down a gorge from top to bottom and follow the path that the water has dug into the rock. No previous knowledge is required for this tour. You will conquer this challenge if you are fit and do not suffer from vertigo. The route takes you down the rock faces and over the obstacles in the canyon. The Arcos Canyon in northern Tenerife is particularly beautiful, as it has a lot of twists and turns and sometimes there are only narrow cracks remain between the rocks where you can cross. The guide will take you to several abseiling locations, which you will descend once you have been safely secured.

If you want to be well-prepared for your canyoning adventure in Tenerife, save your energy for the 6-hour trip and don't forget to bring a packed lunch and wear some comfortable clothes. A rainproof jacket and a warm sweater are recommended during the winter months, as it can get chilly in the gorge. There is not normally any water running down the Arcos Gorge. However, it can become slippery there if it has rained recently. Hiking boots with a strong profile are essential. Abseiling down the Arcos Gorge is a good workout and a real experience both for couples and for groups.
