Nightlife in Tenerife - popular places

Searching for the exciting nightlife on Tenerife, bars, clubs and salsa parties, you don't have to travel far. On the island there are some places on the island that are predestined for exuberant bar and club nights, often just a stone's throw away from your holiday destination.

But maybe you don't have to take another trip: Most of the larger hotels organise their own shows, which may also be attended by people from outside the hotel.

Most restaurants and bars have live music late at night, so don't go home right after dinner.

There is always a place in Tenerife where you can spend the evening away from your hotel room!

The most popular places for night owls are:

1. Playa de las Américas

The best place to go dancing in Tenerife is the resort of Playa de Las Américas. Many Tenerife holidaymakers come to this place on the north coast, as the nightlife is vibrant in the many bars, lounges and discos. Especially the party mile in Playa de las Américas - the "Las Veronicas" - is known for its bars and nightclubs, where you can dance to pop and rock, salsa or party hits.

In Playa de Las Américas there is even a section in which there are two bars or discos in each house. You literally stumble from one party to the next!

2. La Laguna

The university town of San Cristobal de La Laguna is home to 25,000 students who have the nightlife of Tenerife at their fingertips! In the block of houses called "El Quadrilatero", bars and discotheques line up close together. It only gets a little quieter in La Laguna when the students leave the city during the semester break.

Otherwise, you can be sure to always find an opportunity to mingle with the (rather younger) party crowd in the cultural, university and student city.

Should you not be able to decide which bar, lounge or disco to go to, the many promoters who parade through the streets, especially in La Laguna, will help you. With "chupitos", free small schnapps, and discounted admission, you will be enticed into the many bars and clubs.  

3. Puerto de la Cruz

In the north, Puerto de la Cruz dominates the scene for the best nightlife in Tenerife. Along the Avenida Generalísimo and Plaza del Charco you will find the most bars and lounches. Parythoppers in particular benefit from the clear layout of the city centre, as the more cosy bars and lounge bars are located in the pedestrian zone.

For a salsa party, the best place to go is the Azucar salsa bar with its roof terrace and fantastic views of the night city.

The Carnival in Tenerife is definitely the highlight of the year for party-holidays in Tenerife! If you are visiting Tenerife in February and March, don't miss this spectacular event, which is the second largest carnival after the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
