1st Siam Park Tenerife

Hold on tight: the spectacular water slides in Siam Park Tenerife could take your breath away. At least when you descend the almost vertical track from the 28-metre high "Power Tower" and reach the final directly through a
Shark tanks rustle. Europe's biggest
Water adventure pool in the south of Tenerife offers superlatives in many ways.

In Siam Park the whole family will get their money's worth. There are also areas with a fun factor for children. The 18.5 hectare large facility in Costa Adeje was designed in the style of the old kingdom of Siam, so that you feel like on holiday in Asia. In order to see everything and not to miss any of the attractions, you should plan a day visit.

The slides in Siam Park promise rapid descents and thrills. The roller coaster under
the slides is "Singha." On the 240 meter long track you experience during this ride
several changes of direction and drive through some curves at top speed. In the volcano many people become very quiet at first because they can't see anything. Over an absolutely dark slide you glide on a floating tire into the inside of the volcano and experience a rapid laser show in time with the speed, before continuing at speed.

Perhaps the biggest adrenaline rush, but also fun factor is offered by "The Dragon". After a steep descent, you land with your round dinghy in one of the two huge funnels and ride up and down the walls. And only the water current determines where you glide to.

One of the safety precautions in Siam Park is that visitors are instructed by the staff.
The staff will explain before every start how to hold your head, arms and legs. If you need a breather after all the fun and adrenaline, treat yourself to a relaxing river ride on the Mai Thai River before switching to the surfer's paradise. Surfing on the white sandy beach is one of the absolute highlights in Siam Park for water sports enthusiasts. In the "Wave Palace" waves up to three meters high and 40 different types of waves can be created. This is also an experience like in the sea for the bathers.

The Sawasdee area with water jungle and various small slides was especially designed for children. A huge water playground is hidden in "Lost City". Mini-slides, climbing facilities and a regular shower from the oversized water bucket give the little guests a lot of fun here.

2nd Loro Park Tenerife

With the largest parrot breeding in the world, the largest dolphinarium in Europe and the first tunnel aquarium, the Loro Park Tenerife in the north of the island is one of the most popular destinations in Tenerife. This is mainly due to the enormous variety of species and the impressive size of the zoo. On approximately 125,000 square metres, species of the four major groups live here: mammals, birds, fish and reptiles.

For a family holiday with children, this colourful paradise has a number of attractions on offer. If you are planning an excursion to Tenerife, you should plan a day's stage to explore the Loro Park in Puerto de la Cruz and take time for the various shows. One of the most impressive moments is the performance of the orcas and their trainers in the pool. The amusing spectacle of the sea lions also delights children and adults alike.

Loro Park Tenerife was founded in the early 70s as a sanctuary for parrots and with 2000 specimens now houses the most colourful collection imaginable. When visiting the large aviaries you will see how funny, spirited and hospitable parrots are. In the baby ward visitors can learn about the breeding of parrot chicks.

The extensive park is divided into twelve areas, each of which is an experience in itself. There is the Lion Kingdom on Dragon Tree Hill, the Orchid Garden with its magnificent sea of flowers and the impressive aquarium world. Sharks and other impressive sea creatures as well as corals and hundreds of elegant jellyfish move around in this glass area as if you were on a dive.

Anything but snow and ice would be expected on the sunny island of Tenerife. And yet Antarctica is a reality in the realm of penguins. Nevertheless, you don't need gloves and sweaters to take a look at the "Planet of the Penguins". The habitat of the flightless seabirds has been recreated as lifelike as possible, which is why minus temperatures prevail on their side of the glass front and the sea water is also much cooler.

Children can also follow their urge for discovery in Loro Park. In an adventure jungle, they can climb over suspension bridges and onto trees to be carried down again via a slide after an exciting exploration tour at altitude. In the 3-D cinema, an exclusive version of the adventure film "RIO" is shown, which is partly set in the Amazon jungle. Of course, Loro Park also has a jungle where lianas, palm trees and many other plants can be found. Between the trees the macaws fly and sing and the waterfalls give this little paradise a special sound.

A discovery tour is offered in several languages, which allows visitors to look behind the scenes of this animal park. Up to 1.2 million visitors come to Loro Park Tenerife every year, which has been voted one of the world's best zoos. The entrance to the park has the same exotic feel as most of its animal inhabitants. The founder of the zoo has had a Thai village built in the reception area. The six houses in Thai style were built by craftsmen and with material from Thailand. One of them houses the world's largest collection of porcelain parrots.

3rd Aqualand Costa Adeje Tenerife

With the world's best dolphin show and plenty of water fun for children and adults alike, Aqualand Costa Adeje attracts visitors to San Eugenio Alto in the south of Tenerife. The family-friendly facility offers adventure slides, a beautiful water landscape, a wave pool and a children's area with lots of space for romping and splashing around. At Aqualand Costa Adeje you can spend an eventful holiday.

With different heights and designs, each of the slides at Aqualand offers a special
Slope. Through some spirals, tunnels and curves, you rush downhill at high speed on the super slalom, for example, and then land very gently in the water basin.

The boomerang lives up to its name. On a floating tyre you first go up, then down ten metres and up again. The Kamikaze is an absolute speed track, where you overcome a height difference of 20 meters and get going accordingly.

Four areas in Aqualand Costa Adeje belong to the children: Forest Land, Dragon Land, Family Adventure Land and Water Castle. One of the attractions is the family slide, on which up to five people can slide down the slope at the same time. The "flying carpet", as the slide mat is also called, is especially popular with the youngest children.

As at all the other stations, there are lifeguards present here, who pay attention to safety. On the lava river, you will pass waterfalls, a volcano and a lovingly designed garden landscape in a rubber dinghy.

The stars of Aqualand Costa Adeje are the dolphins, some of whom were born here. Unique is the encounter with these clever animals in the water. For an extra charge
Visitors swim with the dolphins through the pool, let them drag you through the water and touch you.

They are accompanied by experienced trainers. At the dolphin show, visitors then experience breathtaking feats. For example, when one of the dolphins catapults its trainer out of the water at heights of up to metres. The interaction between the dolphins and people familiar to them is fascinating.

5th Jungle Park Las Águilas in Tenerife

An unforgettable adventure in Tenerife is the walk on the adventure trail in the Jungle Park Las Águilas. Over narrow suspension bridges and past waterfalls or stalactite caves, you can access this worth seeing animal and plant park in the south of Tenerife.

Between the lianas and high up trees a real jungle feeling comes up. More than 500 animals live in the middle of the 75 000 square metres of beautifully designed landscape. Among the inhabitants are cats of prey such as lion, leopard and jaguar as well as species of monkeys such as orangutan, gibbon, capuchin and lemurs. Crocodiles and turtles can also be found.

The richness of species in the park is exceptional and guarantees that visitors will have plenty to see. However, the agile meerkats, who sometimes flit through their realm excitedly, are quite difficult to get on the photo. In the open-air enclosure, loris, amazons or cockatoos swarm around you.

Some of the birds can even be stroked and are only too happy to be fed. One of the highlights of a visit to the park is the flight show, where birds of prey demonstrate their agility in the air. When the eagle climbs hundreds of metres into the air and then rushes down in a nosedive, it gives you goose bumps.

The park's eight sea lions, six females and two males, who are very affectionate with their animal trainers and give out kisses in between, are enough to make you fall in love. No less charming are the Humboldt penguins, a species threatened with extinction. Children in particular will enjoy feeding the penguins. A special spectacle.

The high ropes course "Forestal Park" Tenerife offers active holidays for children and adults in the middle of a breathtaking natural landscape. At a height of up to 30 metres, visitors can choose between some of the oldest pine trees on the island to a sporting challenge.

From some of the platforms scattered across the forest, climbers can enjoy a wonderful view. Children and beginners as well as advanced learners will find the right course for them. Great importance is attached to safety in the Forestal Park. Visitors receive a briefing from the supervisors before the start. After putting on the harness, helmet and hooks, you are ready to start. There is a practice course where you can get a feeling for climbing and shimmying, balancing and floating at low altitude.

A little bigger steps are then possible on the family route. Together with your children (minimum height 1.10 metres) you can master suspension bridges, climbing walls and nets. The sports course offers among other things the longest rope slide of the Canary Islands (200 metres) and a big Tarzan swing. Once you float through the trees here, you will be overwhelmed by incredible feelings of happiness.

If you are not yet confident in individual modules, you can switch to other routes or come back down to the ground at any time via a rope slide. When designing the climbing park, we made sure that this sporting adventure would not harm the old trees.

7th Puerto de la Cruz Botanical Garden

The history of this oasis goes back a long way: already in the year 1788, the cornerstone for the botanical garden Puerto de la Cruz was laid. The King of Spain himself issued a decree for this. Tropical plants were supposed to acclimatize on the island in order to be then brought to the mainland.

In 1790 the botanical garden "Jardin Botanico" was finally built, which is today one of the most important of its kind with its abundance of tropical and subtropical plants. More than 200 different species from five continents form an ecologically valuable reserve and an empire of colours and scents. Trees of considerable height and trunk circumference amaze visitors.

Grown in tropical and subtropical regions.

The palm garden in the north of Tenerife is also a special project because of its history of origin. It was created on the remains of a garbage dump that was closed in 1983. With great effort by various institutions, the hill was planted with ever new species over many years, many of which were grown in a greenhouse or imported from other regions.

Such interesting plants as belly and climbing palms, screw trees or mangroves can be admired today. At well over 15 metres, the poplar fig protrudes from the sea of plants.

Streams, lakes and waterfalls enrich the green plateau on the coast of Santa Cruz. Close to the Caribbean waterfall grows the "Princess of the Royal Palm", which was planted on the occasion of the inauguration by the then Crown Prince Philip and his wife Letizia.
